Guest iceman69 Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 All right folks, Got a question for anybody with an SPV e200...... Just got it a couple of weeks ago, getting the hang of the menus etc, but there's one thing that bothers me. When I write text messages with the predictive text, I can't seem to add new words to its memory like you can with the Nokia's. Does anyone know if this is possible or do I just have to get used to it? Cheers.....
Guest ferret Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 It'll learn new words when you type them in abc mode. However the SPV range is renowned for forgetting these words.
Guest shadamehr Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 What ferret is telling you, is to go back/delete the word it won't recognise. then HOLD in the */T9 marked button. This will take you to 123 numeric mode. Then HOLD it again. This will now take you to ABC (multi-tap) mode. You can now enter the word as normal, and when you press the space/# button to move onto a new word, this word you just created, gets entered into the custom dictionary. Then HOLD again to continue in T9 mode. EXCEPT - as soon as you create an MMS message after a phone reboot - it loses the dictionary from memory. This is not so much a known bug as a damn *&^&%^* disgrace if you ask me. NOTHING has took up more of my time, in a wasted sense, on my SPV than re-entering custom words over and over again, or using the trick wereby you can save an sms in your drafts folder with all your curom words in, and just open, edit, and close this message again to get the dictionary to remember all the words all over again. Compared to the DUMBphone Nokias you refer to, with their simple "Word not recognised - SPELL IT NOW?" type learning, its really SMART on the E200, not!
