Guest carlosp_uk Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 Hello I am SICK of returning E200s to Orange. This will be my FOURTH phone that arrives later in the week. All three so far have arrived and, within about 2 weeks, have developed problems with the keypad. The first two phones developed a faulty joystick; eventually you couldn't get it to recognise 'down' unless you applied a great deal of force. The third phone has developed a faulty number key (4) - you press it during a text message and it cycles endlessly through the letters as if stuck down. It is pathetic that the physical build quality of the phone is so poor. And such a shame given the appeal of the rest of the phone. Am I alone in having these experiences?
Guest Disco Stu Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 I've not had any of these problems. Got mine from Orange just after Christmas
Guest biffsmash Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 I've not had any of these problems either. It's much better quality than any phone ive owned before. I've even dropped it on my bedroom floor a good few times which can't be good for it being a wooden floor lol But its still unscratched, doesnt squeek, or creek and all the keys press just nicely. I guess i'm just lucky :)
Guest squall Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 and its a vast improvement on the quality of the orig spv to
Guest carlosp_uk Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 Oh, I totally agree, and I love my SPV2 otherwise I wouldn't have persevered with so many replacements. Much better than my old E100. But - the fact remains - it can't be a co-incidence that all three have had dodgy keypads !! I'm sure I've read some other reports of this on the forums.
Guest bikespod Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 @carlosp_uk I'm with you on this one. I've had 5 e200's to date and three have had either joystick or key pad problems, and all have the call quality issue. I'm so narked with the situation i'm defecting to the SEP900 untill the update, and possibly for the future. It's not as flexible as the e2, but will do everything I need it to, including working as a telephone!! It's a real shame, maybe the new mpx will be a good un. I'll come back to windows powered when some more bugs have been ironed out. As for HTC manufacturing.....anyone heard of quality control?
Guest Toyota-F1.com Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 I've had no problems at all with my first ever Orange SPV3.
Guest davo141 Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 i cant press down very well either :) but i got mine from the developer website, so i cant get mine replaced i dont think
Guest lowbug Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 The 'DOWN' joystick issue is a fault. There has been lots of posts on this fault, it's about time HTC sorted it....
Guest londonlad Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 bout the keypad, i've mentioned it before, where it endlessly scrolls thro its letters. mine was the 9 key. played a bit with the buttons, you try to position it right, press it from different ends of the button. it stopped. hasnt happened since, been bout a month. buttons very bad build though. Guest MonkeyJug Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 i've thrown my e200 off the wall, full force, and it bounced into another room in my house - when i picked it up next morning, there wasn't a mark on it! :)
Guest Fonefanatik Posted March 5, 2004 Report Posted March 5, 2004 My '4' started sticking a few weeks ago and required quite a forceful press but it seems to be ok ...... now i'm getting the issue with scrolling down on the joystick- it's getting less responsive and is a real pain when going through my cam pics in multimedia album :x ,also all the others keys creak a bit when pressed..........definately poorer build quality than the orig. SPV :?
Guest Captain Vallo Posted March 5, 2004 Report Posted March 5, 2004 i've thrown my e200 off the wall, full force, and it bounced into another room in my house - when i picked it up next morning, there wasn't a mark on it! :) I have to agree, I was so frustrated the one afternoon as the battery warning thingy came on, I through it out of the window from the third floor of my office. later as I was going to the car there was my phone lying there, not a mark on it......but the next door building had been completely demolished !
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted March 5, 2004 Report Posted March 5, 2004 I've found my e200 to feel a lot more solid than my original spv. However I've not hurled it out of a window. I broke my original spv twice, but my e200 doesn't even have a mark on it! However someone's stolen my arial rubber nipple Grrrr...
