Guest lordlothartr Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 Hi there, I live in Europe. I bought a MPx200 from USA. It was locked to AT&T network. I unblocked the phone with some code then made the firmware upgrade to enable 900 mhz. I can see 900 mhz option on the menu but when I try to use my simcard it says no service. I don't know that is the problem. Do AT&T disable 900 mhz with hardware control? Is there any one who uses this phone with 900 mhz after the uprage process? It works fine with 1800 mhz networks. Thanks, Serhat
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 5, 2004 Report Posted March 5, 2004 Are you sure you are selecting the correct band setting? Try putting the selection to Auto.
Guest lordlothartr Posted March 5, 2004 Report Posted March 5, 2004 Oh yes. I tried everything. After firmware update, I see the Auto, 900/1800, 1900 options on the preferred band options. Is that ok? Do I have to see a single 900mhz option? Anyway, it says no service on the home screen. You can see the 900/1800 mhz option on the menu but it doesn't work.
Guest fedmex Posted March 5, 2004 Report Posted March 5, 2004 you are right. i can confirm that the at&t mpx200 doesn't connect to 900 mhz towers: in italy Vodafone has different name: Vodafone IT in 1800mhz and Omnitel IT ( the former name of the italian carrier) in 900mhz. Even you enable the option (900/1800) the phone will show the second one but It never connect!!! I don't know if is a hardware or software block but I find it not correct and stupid. Bye
