Guest Mannfeld Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 I just got my MPx200 a week ago and I'm pretty satisfied with it, although I do miss the Bluetooth of the previous Nokia 3650. I have also perused this forum a bit and am amazed by the quality of the posts. I have a few questions............... Where/how do I get a/into the Registry Editor? The link from the various "Tweaks" links in this forum bring a "page not available" Can anyone help with this? When using the "full layout" screen option is there anyway to make the top line icons stay in a specific order and choice? Currently it shows the last 5 items I used and that will change as I use various apps. I like to make the shortcuts reflect ONLY the five I prefer. I was able to "unlock" the phone using software found on eBay. However the firmware "upgrade" did not include the "favorites manager" Is there a way to replace that app without losing all on the phone like the firmware update did? Is there a way to assign specific ringers to a specific contact? So you could id a caller by just the ringtone. And finally, is there a way to delete/remove all the sounds I will never use in the Windows folder? Seems like a good way to free up some memory. TIA Michael
Guest Coucou Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 In order: You can download the Registry Editor from Coolsmartphone.com, you have to be a member but that's free. When you're using the motorola full layout you can't change the plug-ins used, but you can make your own skin which contains the icons you want - go to customisation discussion for more details on that type of thing. The RJShortcut plugin is good for that. Don't know about your "upgrade". If mpx is like spv then go into your contacts directory and you can edit each contact and add a custom ringtone, this will take up a lot of space on your IPSM though. You have to put extra ringtones into IPSMApplication DataSounds (you may have to make a new folder). You can't change your windows folder because it will reset after every soft reset (power cycle). Those ringtones don't take up much room anyway. Hope that answers some of your questions to your satisfaction. It's well worth reading through some of the posts in the "Start Here" Section and looking through the articles in Coolsmartphone. Enjoy your phone! :)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 Welcome to the site :) For editing the Registry go to www.monolithix.org and download PHMRegedit this app enables you to alter the registry. As for getting the software on ebay, the software was leakedstolen so not exactly legal.
Guest Mannfeld Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 Hey thanks guys for the help. It is greatly appreciated. The link to the "RJShortcut plugin" merely brings up another thread. That thread doesn't seem to contain a downloadable shortcut plugin. Unless I am completely misunderstanding something here, this is just code to modify the shortcuts. And I don't even get where the code is coming from or what app it is. It does look alot like HTML code, but I guess I don't know for certain. As always, your comments and feeback are welcome. Michael
Guest Coucou Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 It wasn't meant to be a link to the RJShortcut plug in. The problem is that this forum automatically inserts hyperlinks to FAQs for certain words - eg Hard reset, plugin, tweaks, search etc. If you do a search you should find what you're looking for :)
Guest KingDaddy Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 When using the "full layout" screen option is there anyway to make the top line icons stay in a specific order and choice? Currently it shows the last 5 items I used and that will change as I use various apps. I like to make the shortcuts reflect ONLY the five I prefer. If you had an AT&T phone, that would have been the ATT MRU plug-in. Since you flashed your phone with the generic firmware, that's gone forever. The RJ shortcut plug-in is an awesome replacement. I was able to "unlock" the phone using software found on eBay. However the firmware "upgrade" did not include the "favorites manager" Is there a way to replace that app without losing all on the phone like the firmware update did? Favorites Manager is an AT&T app to manage the order of the ATT MRU plug-in. You won't need it any more. If you use the RJ plug-in, the order is set right in the home screen XML. RJ's shortcut plug-in is the best!
Guest Mannfeld Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Again, thanks for all the help. I did finally find the link to the RJ Plugin. I have already installed it on the phone. Haven't had time to fool with a creating a custom screen, but I will! And yes, after I installed the plugin and looked at the code I could see where I can put what I want where I want it. Sure wish this thing had Bluetooth! I'm also curious as to the difference between SP2002 and SP2003. Although its probably a moot point as I read somewhere Moto will not be making a SP03 upgrade available for the MPx200 Mcihael
