Guest MECX Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Hello all, due to sh*t happening (as it does) i no longer have to time to (maually) gather the info for this program. Thanks to all that beta tested it and gave feedback (it will be very valuble for my uni project writeup). Cheers to will of Quitesmart.com again for hosting the files. any more feedback/comments just PM me or post here. Look out for a major update of this program in the future. thanks again. Update1-- ok the first update fixes the installation problem (puts it into Program files not My docs) and adds ch 5 to the list. Just install the CAB below it will automatically uninstall the older version The list update will be out on monday for another week and is compatable with the old verision of the program (so basicly if you dont need Ch5 you dont really need to upgrade although i advise you do) More feedback is welcome more updates in the pipeline, Thankyou for using this program. Hello all---some of you may have heard about this when i was blabbing on IRC. My first Program for smartphone (SMARTPHONE 2003 ONLY im affraid), basicly all it does is display TV listings and football leagues through a menu system. The clever bit is that they can be updated through a very small (approx 10kb) .cab file weekly. I am gonna add more channels and maybe some more feeds very soon. This program is only a BETA so if it breaks your phone its not my fault etc etc you get the point (its been tested on a few phones ty to SpaceRain and DavidRm) Ok all you have to do is install the .cab below as usual---this .cab will put a shortcut into your IE favourites (as well as the program ;-))called 'infoMec' click on it and download the listings----next week when i update the listings jst do the same to get the new ones very simple. If anyone outthere wants to make a .txt file of something (can be news another TV channel anything) and update it weekly give me a PM and i can include it in the program. if you dont have GPRS youcan download the listings from here www.quitesmart.com/imec Big thankyou to all that helped/discussed this with me on IRC and esp to Will who is hosting the list files for me. :) enjoy MECX :D :D :D :DinfoMECapp.CAB
Guest TigerNet Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 ...for which country are these listings??
Guest Panja Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 A nice app m8! But I would like to know for which countries it is...
Guest squall Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 damn what about scotland!? are you planning on developing more then goingfor a release? any plans for a 2002 version? good work mate;)
Guest MECX Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 if some one want todevelop a 2002 verision i will supply them with the source. I am planning on adding CH5 100% and more football leagues, if someone wants to write anything and is prepared to update it weekly let me know as it wouldent take much to add it to the program (this isnt a lifetime commitment either as it wouldent take much to take it out either) :)
Guest Captain Vallo Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 england :) Are there any others?
Guest badlad Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 infoMex.exe DirectoryNotFoundException I just did the send to smartphone install and installed to phone :
Guest crafty Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Thanks for the handy little app! Heres some comments and suggestions for development: - Program installed to My Documents rather than Program Files as is standard (when choosing Storage Card as the install location on my E200), would prefer it if it installed in the standard way. - How about when viewing TV listings, mapping left and right to change channels, e.g if you're looking at 8:00 on ITV and press left it takes you to 8:00 on BBC2 etc. Reason for this is that it takes a while to scroll down and would be easier to go to the time you are intersted in then flick through the channels, also brings me onto my next point... - Page up/down feature, e.g using 7 and 9 for page up and down like in SmartExplorer - would make it much quicker/easier to navigate. - Icon would be nice. All in all i like it and would love to see this further developed. Would it be possible to have another app running on my PC that would automatically download the information cab at a certain time every week and transfers it to you phone next time you sync - would save on GPRS bills. Hope that these comments are helpful! Crafty 8)
Guest MECX Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 Ok ---badlad--i think your .cab must have been corrupted--please download it again. Captain Vallo----The channels currently are BBc1---Ch4 english terrestrial. Others may come if people supply me with text files to include as i dont have the time to do them all. Squall---this is gonna stay freeware for now  :D and it will stay that way unless someone makes me an offer to take it commercial (doubt it). So any programmers in C# wanna help me drop me a PM :D Crafty---Ill sort the My document installation thing out next release (my bad :? ). Ill work on the flicking left and right through channels and page up and down as they are really good ideas. Might not be next release as im on a learning curve wit this programming. I wouldent know the first thing about coding an app for a desktop download and sync. How cool would that be tho. :) maybe when i get better at C# ill have a pop. 10kb a week isnt bad for now over GPRS but if you really wanna save the pennys just click on the link in the first post and use your main connection. Great feedback guys keep it coming good and bad. Thank you all for trying my app :D
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 Could you show a sampel of what a textfile should look like!? I might be willing to do a few Danish channels, but I wanna see what I'm getting into before saying yes *G*
Guest MECX Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 hey Morflez basicly what you see is what you get in the text files. just space out the TV listings and make sure there isnt any rubbish. If you want to see examples just browse to /storage/Program Files/TVlist and all the one si use are in there. cheers MECX
Guest MECX Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 Updated --see first post. List file out on monday just connect to the same site and download exactly the same :)
Guest drblow Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 Does the phone need to be able to connect to gprs for this app to work? I installed it last night. It opened, but when I chose TV listings>BBC1, it said unexpected error has occured and shutdown! My phone is disconnected ATM, so I can't connect to gprs - would that be why?
Guest MECX Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 it works better if you use your GPRS connection but you CAN do this from your desktop PC as well. just connect to www.quitesmart.com/imec and download the .cab to your deskrtop and install it to your phone like a normal .cab file. You are getting the error because you have not installed the list files (basicly all the data) hope this helps cheers for using the program.
