Guest ultimasnake Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 nobody tried it yet? :) i am trying to help everyone but i need help with that Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest midnight Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 hehe, this is similar to something i'm working on, but havent had time to finish it :)
Guest ultimasnake Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 also in php? or in an more program kind of way. do you have anything on html tags that are not suported by the phone? Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest londonlad Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 on ie on smartphone if you disable Show Pictures in the menu, does that not save gprs cost or does it only not show the pics? cos i get similar sizes of the webpage with or without show pictures on?
Guest nedge2k Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 This is a great idea (I see what you meant now  ). Am gonna give a proper blast tomoro, am off to watch Robocop now.
Guest midnight Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 yeh, php, and i think pretty much all standard html tags are implemented
Guest ultimasnake Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 on ie on smartphone if you disable Show Pictures in the menu, does that not save gprs cost or does it only not show the pics? cos i get similar sizes of the webpage with or without show pictures on? Yes you can do that , but this is ment to make the Actual HTML page smaller , like when you disable images on the phone there are still tags which tell the browser where the images are , and takes useless screen space and more. Also there are sites that have their CSS stylesheet in the actual HTML and since in the 2002 browser this is not used this is useless bandwith too. Also things like IFRAMES and other HTML tags can be stripped then since they are not used. And THIS can save you 12Kb+ per page and that is allot since i only have 2mb datatraffic in a month. @midnight Care to share my creation with me? I will do the same who knows maybe we can learn from each other on how we do it :)
Guest midnight Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 oh, iframes aint supported, cos they are the same as normal frames, get what you mean now about html tags that aint used :) so stripping iframes wont actually make any difference ultima, i'm quite a way into mine, and it will be a MoDaCo 'service', just that games are stopping me doing any work on it, but mine is a bit more than simply stripping out images and other tags, it completely reformats the pages so they fit on the Smartphone.
Guest ultimasnake Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 aaah nice.. i am still thinking of doing that in C# or something... but that will be also greater then since i dont have things like timeouts and other stupid things of php which C# as a programming language is more powerfull (like caching etc)...... though i am wondering what you are doing as extra oh and will it be a modaco paying member or all modaco members
Guest midnight Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 probably for all members, but until me and Paul have a proper chat/until its in a fully workable form i have no idea really
Guest A.Hughes Posted March 5, 2004 Report Posted March 5, 2004 That sounds like a great app in production Midnight, any idea when you are likely to release a beta for feedback?
Guest MECX Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 i had a bit of a blast with it, looks good. hehe modaco looks funny through it :) yahoo and msn work tho i could see this being great on a phone 8) need any beta testers im your man
Guest ultimasnake Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 new version online see top post :)
Guest nedge2k Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 Im likin this site. Everthing goes alot faster now. Fatal error seems to only occur when Strip StyleSheet tags is applied.
Guest ultimasnake Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 ah ok thanks for that info... didnt check it yet... though i did solve it a while ago but that was more like lowering the errors :)
Guest GarethM Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 Maybe it would be an idea to add a function to deal with framesets that would display a link for each individual frame. This won't help with all sites, but there are some which have a pointless topframe / sideframe etc. That PHP error you're getting could probably be sorted by changing the maximum memory allowed for the script in your php.ini file. Good Work - Good to see that the community has initiative, unlike Microsoft! :)
Guest ultimasnake Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 well it's not my server so i cant change the php.ini file.. i am working on a more memory efficient way.. also i had an idea of converting framesets to tables at a propper size or something
Guest ultimasnake Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 @nedge2k , can you try http://www.roxa.nu/~ultimasoftware/test2.p...t;i=t&page=(THE PAGE THAT FAILED HERE) and check if this does show the site :)
Guest nedge2k Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 Well this is what i get on laptop an phone. No errors or anything so i guess it works.ss000.gif
Guest ultimasnake Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 Please give it a whirl again because it should just display an page http://www.roxa.nu/~ultimasoftware/test2.php i turned on all options by default.. does it work up to now? (css cleaning doesnt work perfect yet)
Guest nedge2k Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 A Picture's worth a thousand words....ss000.gif
Guest ultimasnake Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 it should work now.. and i didnt get an error.. was testing something at that presice moment :)
