Guest Disco Stu Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Thank the Lord someone else is having a bad day ! Sorry, Space... Just happened to me. Couldn't get the icon whatever I tried and didn't want to reinstall ActiveSynch as CD at home etc Sadly I had to hard reset but had used Sprite backup and OTA works instantly so fairly happy now. Hope this helps. You might get a better answer but from what I've read today I doubt it.
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Is this a common problem ? If so it can go straight back !!
Guest kjk Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 just try to turn off/on your computer it's happen tp me many times i just turn of/on computer and it's ok
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Thats ridiculous though mate. To properly sync data everytime I want to, I now have to turn my PC on and off. This completely destroys the purpose and ruins a hell of alot. Orange you have had 6 handsets returned by me now - why on earth dont you recall the bloody thing and give everyone of us what we deserve - a phone that works !!! Rant Over.
Guest Disco Stu Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Did that work though ? I thought I'd tried that one... (yes, I did have my glasses on, but they were steamed up at the time... )
Guest Will Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 this can sometimes be caused by the number of explorer windows open as you sync, solution (sometimes) is to close all windows, and replace phone on cradle. Will
Guest scott2eyes Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 If the problem is that every so often the phone doesn't appear in Explorer when you plug it in, but only when it's already been plugged in at least once before, but you can still "see" the phone in Media Player (under "Copy to CD or device") and Activesync still recognises whether or not it's connected, then I have exactly the same problem. (I don't know how it affects synchronising withou Outlook because I don't use it...) I have found that rebooting the PC sorts out the problem, and making sure Windows Explorer is closed before unplugging and re-plugging-in the phone seems to make the problem happen a lot less frequently. (I read somewhere on these boards that the problem is something to do with Firewalls rather than the phone or Activesync, but I don't know how much truth there is to that.)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Yep Firewalls and Activsync. Activsync still need improving, it's getting there but can still play up sometimes. Firewalls that just says it all :)
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Lol - well thought of guys - just recently installed Symantec Cleint Security and since then been having this minor problem. Nice one :) spacecowboy
