Guest Sully Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Hope someone can help....spent all day going backwards and forwards between Motorola and Orange. I understand Orange (bless their cotton socks!!) take off certain files from the phone being File Manager, M-Mode, Office Online and Favourites Manager. My question is, is there anywhere I can download these files from or anything which is remotely similar that I can download and where can I get them from?? I have a 256mb SD card so would I save the applications direct to the storage card or to the phone?? Thanks for any help....a newbie
Guest Will Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 www.monolithix.org for free stuff or www.handango.com for pay stuff. you can store most stuff on the storage card, the phone will ask you where you want to put stuff! Will
Guest scott2eyes Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 I understand Orange (bless their cotton socks!!) take off certain files from the phone being File Manager, M-Mode, Office Online and Favourites Manager. I thought that those were programs that other networks add on, rather than something Orange take off... Anyway, if you want a good file manager, I'd recommend going to www.binarys.com and downloading Smart Explorer (there's a brand new beta version that's only just been released), and also Task Manager while you're there (shows you what programs are running & lets you close them down, also can show you how much battery, memory, IPSM and SD card space is left.) I don't know what any of the other programs you listed do, so i can't tell you what alternatives are available! The only other software I'd say is virtually essentail (for me, at least) are iMeter (keeps a log of outgoing voice and data calls) and Xbar (allows you to switch between programs which are running.) Although I'd advise always saving anything ever onto the SD card whenever possible (apparently the more space on the IPSM, the better the phone runs), Smart Explorer is one of the few times I'd make an exception and put it on the phone, just in case you end up with a second storage card and want to transfer files between that and the phone. (The MPx doesn't like swapping cards without a reset.)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 I thought that those were programs that other networks add on, rather than something Orange take off... Correct Moto with MS only release a basic ROM image then the network operators add their settings and any apps.
