Guest JTHM Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Hi Folks I've just upgrade to an E200 and bought a Nokia HDW-2 headset. All seems to work fine together except that if I don't use the headset within the first few minutes, the headset turns itself off again. If it do use the headset as soon as I switch it on I can use it as normal but at the end of the call the LED flashes red once and the then continues to flash green. According to the manual this means the headset has gone into "discoverable" mode but instead of turning itself off after 5 minutes it stays that way. According to Nokia Cust. Serv. this is because the phone isn't sending the correct signal to the headset and even if I do make and end a call the headset will turn itself off after half an hour of "discoverable" mode anyway. This activity can't be normal - has anyone else found this with their BT headsets? Many thanks JT
Guest JTHM Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Update.... Well I spoke earlier to Orange Wirefree Help (156) and wadjaknow they say it's the headset. So as you'd expect Nokia say it's Oranges problem, Orange say it's Nokias problem...."Ohhh! Here we go round the mulberry bush, the mulberry bush, the mulberry bush...." Luckily, here we have both a Nokia service centre and an Orange shop so it may mean a bit of leg work between the two but in the end I'll pester them into submission. Later folks, JT
Guest ingybing Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Did you get anywhere with this?? I have the exact same problem except once you make a call or something the green LED stays flashing but it stays on.. and i can make and answer calls on it. The odd time it does ring on the phone a couple of rings before the headset kicks in again.. but the main pain in the butt is that having to dial a number just to get it to stay connected. If you've not got anywhere i'm going to pester orange since they sell it on the website as a "compatible" product... so i'd say it's down to them.
Guest JTHM Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 I ended up taking the Nokia headset back under Orange Shop's 14 day return policy and swapped it for a Sony Ericsson unit. Been using now for about 6 weeks without any problems....I just don't seem to be able to transfer calls between handset and headset - not a problem for me though.
