Guest Arghh!! Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Hi guys, I've only had this phone for about a month now, But I was hanging out at the bar with some mates, and found my screen has cracked with a big crack all the way down the left of my phone. What can I do? If i call up Orange, will hey ask me to pay a whole bundle for the repair? The phone works perfectly fine, its just that the screen is now cracked with a big badword off crack all the way down the left of the screen. What can I do, to get a replacement, or to get this one fixed? Thanks for the help!
Guest Arghh!! Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 anyone? My phone wasn't insured, so does anyone know what Orange will charge me for this? I don't even know how it happened, it was just in my pocket, and when I took it out to make a call, I saw that there was a big crack on the screen. I didn't bang it anywhere or drop it.....could it have been that the glass just cracked from pressure? I dunno. But I am so pissed at this. Another thing is that there are no scrathces on the phone whatsoever, the phone works perfectly, there isn't even a dent or anything on the part of the screen where it is cracked. It is just somehow cracked. Could this be bad quality glass that they've used or something? any help guys?
Guest Johneboy Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 Info straight from Orange: Emergency replacement: £300 direct from Orange. (NOT cheap! You can get one from eBay for less.) They also mention trying to contact HTC on 01295662109. OR Try this company: Mobile Phone Repair Company 08707 596 596 They quote the following: The cost will be £29.95 excluding VAT, if a repair is to be carried out and £60.00 excluding VAT if a replacement phone is to be issued. If the equipment is covered by Warranty the manufacturer shall be invoiced where appropriate. Hope this may be of help.

Oh ok, man thats a heavy price for Orange, I gues theres no point me even calling them...but If its a products fault, then should they not fix it? I mean, there is no way that it was my fault, the phone was just in my pocket, and as I said, there are no dents or scratches or anything. And the phone works perfectly fine. Anyway, I don't mind paying £35 odd quid for a repair though, do I have to take the phone to them, or ship it? And has anyone used them before and are they reliable? Thanks a lot for your help
Guest squall Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 call them! the emergency replacement was £75 6 months ago, alternatively you can backdate o care for £25 + 12 months commitment, if the prices are the same. also is it just the plastic cover for the screen, or the actual screen?

Its a big crack, and I just don't know how it could have happened. £75 for a replacement? is that with having insurance or without? cos I don't have insurance. and would I need to send this phone back to them? I just can't believe this happened, I have had the phone for only a month, was loving it, and now this. Man i am pissed.

When I said the screen is cracked, I didn't mean the actual screen, I meant the glass. So, they should be able to replace that shouldn't they? i mean. it should be easy to replace the fron of the case isn't it? I'll give them a call and see, otherwise I'll check out a repair centre, before I ask for a replacement. Thanks
Guest squall Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 if o handle it you will get a new phone. they will take old one away for repair. if they dont and you send it to hayes they will give you a quote (they may say its a right off and refuse to fix it.)
Guest Arghh!! Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 I'll call up Orange and see what they say then. Cheers for the help!

Guest Johneboy Posted March 5, 2004 Report Posted March 5, 2004 If you can get it done for £75 then its a bargain! I was refering to information available to all customer services staff at Orange. This should be accurate, but if it's not then great stuff.
