Guest Coucou Posted March 5, 2004 Report Posted March 5, 2004 Has anyone else noticed the location based services being trialled on orange world? Normally when you go to 'find things nearby' it asks you where you are, however on wednesday it knew where I was, to within about 50 metres. It's stopped again now, anyone able to shed any light? Is this the shape of things to come? It was pretty handy actually as I was going somewhere I'd never been before. :)

I was looking for cinemas in Sheffield a couple of days ago and not only was it listing the three cinemas but it was also telling me the distance to each of them from my location. The distances werent spot on though (about 50 metres out i'd say, but i was impressed)

Guest nvkid909 Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 the star, is that the nearest transmitter, cos it's placed me in a couple of places (where i think transmitters are) this is really good, all they need to do now is expand the list of searchables :D
