Guest nickweb Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 I really think Orange and MS shouldhave put a bit mroe thought into the menu system before releasing it.. I would calss myself as an "advanced" computer user, but when i switched on the phone for the first time, it was like everything hitting me at once. 2 pages on the start menu? shudder.. I rearranged it to the following, but, as a result, some themes dont like it.. Im trying to customise my own theme to work with this structure, but I think this structure works better that the current one.. Whats your thought people? START Inbox Internet Explorer Accessories -Dockstation -Calculator -Call History -Contacts -Msn Messenger -NotBat -SMS2Mail -Tasks -Voice Notes -Windows Media Audio Visual -Camera -Video Recorder -Multimedia Album Games -Jawbreaker -Micro Turismo -Rebound! -Solitare Orange -Caller Photo ID -Keyboard -Orange Backup -Orange Help -Orange Plus -Orange Update Programs -Active Sync -Modem Link -PHM Registry Editor -Smart Explorer -Task Manager --*Temp Install (Folder for holding install files :) ) Settings -Settings (The program) -Speed Dial --*V.CONNECTIVITY ---- BT Active Sync Setup ---- BT Settings ---- CSD Type ---- GRPS Authentication --*V.RESETS ---- Clear Storage ---- Reset MFG Settings
Guest midnight Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 i think the start menu is fine as it is, ive had an ms smartphone for over a year and never customised the start menu, never feel i've had to. the thing is, even if you arrange into folders, its still multiple pages to get to the item you want, if you want fast access, thats what speeddial is for :)
Guest drblow Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 Or else you can customise the shortcut plugins to give you one click access to your favourite apps, from cunstomised icons on the homescreen!! :)
Guest statscat Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 I also think that MS gets a pretty big say in what has to appear on the first start up screen which doesn't perhaps allow the OEMs and Operators the flexibility that they might desire with regards to the menus. I guess its personal choice, I have to confess I'm with Dr Blow I customise my homescreen with the use of send keys to put the apps that I want within easy access and to send key presses to them. I guess it all boils down to how you personally use your phone, I try to make as much as I can accessible from the homescreen as this to me seems a more natural experience.
