its a dancing game where you have a foot pad with a bunch of arrows on it. you look at the screen and you follow the arrows. it sorta looks like this:

It'd be pretty easy, I think.

There's a Beatmania/DDR clone out there on the PC (Freeware) which uses Mod-like music.

IE Play the MP3 in the background, and use the mod to track where the beats are..

You wouldn't need a big foot-thing.. It works well enough with buttons..

I'd give it a go myself, but I'm already working on my 2nd game..

Plus.. I could do with a 128Mb card before I even begin working on it :)

For those wondering, My first game's awaiting a bunch of levels... (currently 17 levels, but quite small) It's slowly growing!! It'll be done soon... Maybe a week, maybe two..

Sure someone could make use of the phones serial port to use a dance mat ... now there's something for the next modaco meet - a dance mat competition that is being run on a smartphone ... how about multiple users going head to head linked via BT :-)

lol, a usb foot mat...and for BT phones, BT foot mats. you can also compete w/ other BT phones that have the foot mat. DDR anywhere, anytime.

Nnnooooooo!!!!!!!!!!

Its bad enough these migrated to the PC, but please not the smartphone. Its bad enough carrying around the camera, can you imagine carrying around a dance mat??!??

And how would you get the phone recognising multiple angles at once? Unless of course you set up each direction on the mat to be a different key, and hence combinations being different keys. And then there's the slow speed of the serial port...

STOP!! You're already thinking to much about this! :)

LMFAO :)

I was thinking along the lines of not using the mat but playing the game using the keypad..

*fits of hysterics*

Just try to imagine your everyday business man waiting for a train whilst playing DDR on his phone.. oh yeah with a dance mat plugged into it..

It ain't exactly practical

I was mearly suggesting porting something similar to the smartphone.

Not going the whole hog with the mat. How hard can it be to make a game where you press the keys at the correct time to the music when prompted by a cool scrolly display.

I reckon a beatmania game for the phone would be pretty cool and work quite well. Not so sure about DDR though. Might smash me phone jumpin' on it.

hey, you know you can lose weight with DDR? well, there might be a place where you could just whip out your smartphone/mat and dance to the music. its like yoga, or aerobics, but a lot more strenuous. :D
