GPRS 'G' symbol - on always or just most of the time?

Hi folks,

Having recently got my MPx200 I called Orange to update my PAYG sim to activate GPRS. They did and GPRS worked fine. Ever since then I'm sure I've had the 'G' symbol on the phone ever since, indicating I can connect via GPRS.

Since I turned the phone on this morning, the 'G' hasn't appeared in the topbar area. This is my first experience with a GPRS enabled phone and so I'm wondering if this is normal - ie. does the symbol come and go? Does it depend on where you are (although I've not gone anyplace it where it hadn't been working previously) :?:

the "G" will reduce in size and then vanish depending if it has a good enough reception! :)

With the MPX200 the display is different to the HTC model phones.

When you use GPRS the G will appear on the main screen and also the LCD display. but as you have found, on a reboot of the phone the G will disappear. It will return again the next time you use GPRS this is normal for the MPX200 where as the HTC phones ie SPV e100 etc have the G displayed all the time the handset is GPRS enabled.

No phone has the G reducing in size depending on reception the icon will either be there or not :?

Aah thanks for the tip awarner. It reappeared just as you said this morning after I'd done a Send/Receive emails. At first I thought I may have done something to disable it after installing lots of apps :)

I think there was a problem yesterday afternoon because it wasn't connecting when I did a Send/Receive emails, but I've since learned Saturday afternoons are a busy period and sometimes you can't get a connection.
