Guest rion Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 is it possible that some startup files are useless in tanager smart phones? and can I remove some of these startup files just like some useless startups in our PC's?
Guest nickcornaglia Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 depends on which startup files. Some are needed for the phone to function correctly while others were put there by user installed programs. The latter could be deleted but the associated program may then not function correctly. It all depends. Good advice is: know what you're doing before you do it.
Guest rion Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 if anyone familiar with these startup files, let me know. I hope removing some of this useless startup shortcuts may give my phone more extra memory. action lock eloff ezpuchrouterregister launchstk MMSSvc Pocketcandy SmsClassZero thanks for the advice encece :)
Guest Dr_StrangeTrick Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 I've got the E100 and whenever I do a hard reset I always remove everything from the startup folder (make the phone start a lot faster) There are only two items in there now. IA Style Caller ID and IMeter both of which I have installed.
Guest Will Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 pocketcandy is not a 'default' startup app, you must have installed it. Personally i would not remove anything else in that list, but feel free to experiment, as a hard reset will always bring them back (of course it clears everything from the phone too!)
Guest rion Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 thanks guys, I'm a bit confident exploring more on my phone. but I need to learn to back-up my address book first. keep them coming! :)
Guest Disco Stu Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 You can back-up your address book using the in-built Orange service. Very easy - just don't forget your username & password
