This new replacement I've got has frozen a couple of times every day since I got it. Mostly when changing homescreens - which I tend to do a lot of. But today a couple of times I have gone to pick it up from sitting doing nothing, or even being in the cradle, & it's totally frozen, needing battery pull to get it going again.

It has now got to the stage where every time I touch it I'm hoping it doesn't freeze up again.

Any ideas?? I only got it last week & had to hard reset after using all-locations backup tool, so the phone should be relatively memory free etc.

Is it karma for me complaining too much!?!? :)

Hi!

I just got my Qtek 8080 last week and I'm seeing similar problems. The phone is just sitting on my desk (green indicator light happily blinking), when I try to activate the phone - nothing, completely dead. Funnily enough if you call the phone you hear a ring signal from the calling phone but the Smartphone does nothing.

The only thing that I have noticed (I think, it's difficult to verifiy) is that it hangs when I have locked the keypad. Sitting in the cradle with no keypad lock it seems to be fine.

Cheers,

This is a known (?) problem, although it seems to be caused by a multitude of problems...

Current workarounds include:

- avoid placing your phone near large metal objects that can affect the signal

- use the default homescreens

- periodically make calls to a toll free number to check if the phone is still in service (even if the signal bars are still active the phone may not be in service)

So, basically what you're saying is don't use any of the features of the phone!!

OK,

so it's a known problem :x .

Does the new ROM that is coming solve the problem?

If I want to test a "clean" Qtek 8080 how do I perform a hard reset?

Is there a thread that has discussed this?

Cheers,

Sucks, doesn't it?

Even worse... after much testing, I found out that under certain conditions (don't know what), the phone locks up when it receives an incoming call! This explains why my phone could go for hours or days without getting a lockup, and then locks up repeatedly. It's locking up because someone's trying to call me urgently, and as soon as the phone reboots, it locks up again when the call comes in.

This particular problem appears to go away when the default homescreen is used. I'm switching to Windows Default right now and see how long I can go without locking up.

P.S. I have the O2 Xphone, so this problem I'm having may not be related to your problems at all.

Dr Blow you have had even worse luck than me. All these types of posts make me even more certain the P900 will be a better bet.

According to Orange, my new E200 lockign up was due to me not having all the SIM updates applied to the phone. So they sent them through, and it stopped locking up for a bit, but it still does it every once in a while.

Usually I get a text message, and the phone locks up completely, and I have to take the battery out. The thing that really f-cks me off about this is that this loses the text message, and I've no way of finding out who sent me it (not even from Orange).

After much hassle to Orange, the woman at the other end of the phone gave up and just said that "it does it when there's a problem". However that's all she would say about the matter (oh and that I couldn't have another phone, not even one that worked properly).

Orange's line is that its not their problem and that they will do nothing about it.

Which annoyed me somewhat........

(oh and it seems to do it more often when I get of the tube and back into an area with phone signal, but I've got no actual proof of this, it could just be a coincidence)

Oh, and I always get lockups when I do anything with MMS. But this might be because I can't use the normal "MMS Access" APN with my carrier, but instead I have to use a workaround and use Secure WAP Access, but set the APN there as mms.

Of course, as Invisible A just said, if it locks up when a message comes in, I lose the message. :)

Well default homescreen is no help. I've never changed the homescreen (i've only had the phone about a week).

This is really pissing me off. It's ruining what is otherwise a very good product.

Time to email qtek and complain loudly

PS. Does anybody know how to hard reset these things? The method for the SPV/Qtek 7070 doesn't work.

Boring update on the hanging problem.

No go on using the default homescreen. Today happens to be my birthday, and I started receiving happy birthday messages in the morning. Lockup-o-rama! And I lost all the messages. :)

But I happen to have a SIM from a different carrier (TH Orange), so I put my regular SIM (TH AIS) into another phone, and put the Orange SIM in my Xphone. Snce this SIM is from a different carrier with entirely different GPRS and MMS settings, I spent half a day getting that to work, and I'm happily sending MMS's and making calls without lockups. On my AIS SIM sending MMS always locks up on the first try for some reason.

Well I performed a hard reset.

I've installed the same apps as before and even changed my homescreen this time and so far no hangs at all.

Only time will tell...
