Guest kingdom master Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 i would say its the wap,lol tom
Guest smeg36 Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 Me to! I was thinking the internet because most people don't have T-Mobile, and without free unlimited internet, you just aint living to the fullest with your Smartphone.
Guest morpheus2702 Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 I dunno, how many people outside us on MoDaCo use MSN on the move? Given that poll last week, I bet MMS is severely underutilised! Would you miss it?
Guest nedge2k Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 Used it a few times but Messenger is mine. Never use it.
Guest mike-oh Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 I'm a stickler for MSN! In general it could be MMS, i just never use(d) it!! for none modacoers it could be video playback cos hardly anyone knows it's capable of it!
Guest RussellH Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 I bet the battery charger's the most used!!! :)
Guest Pulse Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 I use msn now and again, via bluetooth, if I want to just lay down, or sit downstairs. Least used features? Well there's a few... Calculator never used, MMS will never be used (too expensive), The in-built task manager....
Guest blewer Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 I only use MMS when I want to use up my free 20 messages per month
Guest Disco Stu Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 I use MMS a bit for keeping in touch with friends in far-off places. TBH I've no idea what MSN Messenger is ! Why is it different to SMS ? :?
Guest kelv23 Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 messenger is real time chat, same as any other chatroom you care to go into.I cant see what all the fuss about it is to be honest....
Guest kelv23 Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 most under used service for me,Orange Update, waste of space.....
Guest kingdom master Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 I think we've uncovered somthing here, alot of people dont understand what msn is. is there a list on the in built software and what it does and how to set it up? could be good.
Guest kelv23 Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 it seems like messengers a bit of a gimmick for a phone, why spend time inputting text through the keypad when you could errrrrr just call them?
Guest JampoTT Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 it seems like messengers a bit of a gimmick for a phone, why spend time inputting text through the keypad when you could errrrrr just call them? you're missing the point somewhat..... 1) the other person may not be NEAR a phone (they could be on their computer, its a cross platform app) 2) the other person (or you) might not be able to have a conversation 3) the other person could be in a different country 4) well, its just a different means of communication. May as well ask "why use SMS, why use Email, why write a letter?" I have my MSN connection virtually always on. Either on my E200 (and previously SPV) or on my Ipaq using GPRS/Bluetooth. Why? Because I work away from home. Its a great way to keep in touch with my mates, my family, my girlfriend. Yes I talk to them as well, but when sat in a hotel watching numbing soaps on telly, its nice to chat away, share weblinks etc with my GF sat with her laptop 300 miles away.... Its certainly no gimmick. As far as I'm concerned, its pretty much the "killer app" and one that has stopped me reverting to (say) a T610 or something like that. Come to think of it, speech is one of the LAST things I do with my mobile phone :) I think my last bill was about 27mb GPRS, 400~ text messages and maybe only 300 mins outbound talk time.....
Guest kelv23 Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 not the killer app for me i'm afraid.my girlfriend and loads of friends are in Thailand (texts).plus if the last thing you use a phone for is making calls wouldnt a PDA be better for you?
Guest kelv23 Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 don't know to be honest Stu, but there is an Orange network out there.Thais love texting and I'd be surprised if GPRS is there as there are internet cafes on every street which are very cheap,around30-50p per hour.also I cant see your average Thai businessman/surfer using it.suppose some of the bar girls might find it handy for checking e-mails from their wealthy western boyfriend to see how much cash they are being sent.......
Guest morpheus2702 Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 Oh Mr Kelv, you funny man. Love you long time
Guest kelv23 Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 sounds like a few people have taken the odd "holiday" in the land of smiles.cant wait to go back, see my girlfriend and little boy.I'll keep an eye out for any new and interesting phones that pop up out there, seem to get things released pretty quickly there,Singapore/malaysian/taiwanese imports etc.
Guest kingdom master Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 PLUS msn messenger is cheaper to use than calling or sending a text. u could be always available abit like push to talk service. always available but u only get charged for what u communicate. i think as msn messenger evolves in the future it will include push to talk or voice chat over data. as well as text based emoticons etc.. mobile msn and other messengers are the way forward. i was using my xda 2 the other for msn and its fantastic. i hope we get an updated version of msn soon.
Guest cyrilthefish Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 i would say its the wap, lol i agree, WAP is probably the only thing i've never used on my E100 :) things i rarely use: voice notes Tasks orange update/backup Things i use most: Pocket Music (since they fixed the 'skipping music' bug, it's without doubt the best app on my phone) MSN PocketIE XBar IA album Binarys taskmanager and explorer a selection of SPV games
Guest mattscholey Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 Posted from my SmartPhone! I used wap when i had it free as part of an orange square deal. Now i never use it as modaco mobile is much more interesting. I never use mms or the camera. i have an e100 And there is no point carrying around the clip on camera which makes the phone so long. my favourite apps are win media player. pocket divx. internet explorer. msn. games are great but ill never pay for them. matt
Guest allyourbasekris Posted March 12, 2004 Report Posted March 12, 2004 Now you see I use wap all the time on my O2 unlocked spv. But then I using some of the settings here, I can acces full html pages through gprs. Even though I'm on PAYG. Ha ha, o2 are doing free wap at the mo as well.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 12, 2004 Report Posted March 12, 2004 I have only used MMS once and that was just to test it. WAP I have used a few times but that was just for viewing modaco and then it's really slow :)
