mpx200 won't power on

about 30% of the time i power off my phone, it won't power up again unless i remove the battery.

i talked to an att tech about this and he told me to take the phone in and get the battery exchanged. i asked him if he was saying that the battery was defective, and he answered "that's what we're trained to say."

has anyone else experienced this? is there a software option to power off the phone?

It does sound like a battery problem to me, but I would try a

hard reset first.
