So I called the ATT technical problems line, as I mentioned before in other posts I am having a real problem with out going calls. The calls that I make from my phone book are not placed and the MPX states on teh screen please check your numer and try again. ATT explained that with the new number portability in the US I have to dial the area code for all phone calls, including if I am dialing from my home area. It even gets better it seems that ATT is also testing out Cingular merger with some numnbers.

So with that said I had to go into my phone book and edit about 30 some numbers and add my home area code. FUUUUUUUUN :?

You'll find everywhere else in the world this is absolutely normal. - as you can take a mobile/cell phone into many different areas you need an area code for every number.

It may be nothing to do with youre phone, and all ATT customers are having to do the same.

I have international codes on all my numbers, they dial as normal within the the home country, and work just the same when I'm in any other country.

The only problem is when i look up taxi in the contacts, i have to make sure i don't phone "Comfort Taxis" in Singapore!

Orange in the UK have a gizmo that'll add the UK national code to the start of all the numbers on your sim card.

not so useful for the MPX 200 though.

Have a look at contact reformatter by Paul [MVP]

I don't believe there is a US version of this but Paul may be able to

modify a US version.
