Guest mike-oh Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 ..... I fear they would just give me all this data protection act shpiel but surely i have the right to know who's calling me. If they know my details I should be able to know theirs. What's got me miffed is that i got a call at 3:25 this morning!! I have me suspicions as to which A*** it could be but i'd like confirmation. Cheers, Mike
Guest Coucou Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 In general no, but if you're getting abusive or nuisance calls then they should be able to do something.
Guest Ras Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 Oftel may be a good idea??? Failing that, the Police  if you're calls are frequent and obviously newsence, they will be able to track!
Guest Coucou Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 I'd go to O before the police, they may be able to simply block the caller. Only involve the police if it's seriously affecting your life. :)
Guest Pulse Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 I'm sure they are able to do something for nuisance calls. I think they can even block the number calling you.
Guest mike-oh Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 It's not bad enough to warrant the police yet!! I'd just like to know if it's possible for me to ring up O and say 'i got a nuisance call at 3.25 this morn and the caller with held their id, can you tell me the number please?' will they do this or not? i doubt it but i would like to know either way. Guest Coucou Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 Why agonise about it? Give them a ring, tell them it's a nuisance caller, even if only an isolated incident, ask them if you can have the info. They might say no or yes, you won't know till you call them! If they say no get them to note it on your account though so if it happens again you've got a good case.
Guest mike-oh Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 Yeah good point! But most of my calls to O usually end up with me being peed off at the end of it! :) I'm just wonderin if anyone on here has had a similar experience, and how they dealt with it. Posted from my MotoSmartPhone!
Guest Pulse Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 I doubt they will tell you the number, but they sure as hell can block it.
Guest Mr Orange Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 Did the Display say 'Private' or 'Unknown' ? If its Private the number has been deliberately withheld if it's 'unknown' then the number wasn't passed to Orange.
Guest mike-oh Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 Good question, you tend not to notice those subtleties at that time in the morning! I'm on an mpx200 and if i remember rightly the exterior display said different to when i opened it. i seem to remember it saying private somewhere tho, but like i said i didn't notice/remember really. Guest Coucou Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 So have you rung them yet? They won't bite you know. :)
Guest mike-oh Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 Lol! i'm "busy" at work! I'll phone later this evenin i promise :) Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest squall Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 i had been getting a lot of signal ring phone calls, annoying but not to serious. so i phoned O, they said they could do nothing unless the phone calls were abusive/ threatening. believe they will allow you to change you no for free if it continues, but thats a bit extreme
Guest mike-oh Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 Right....no surprise that they wouldn't tell me the number  and she was quite adamant that they wouldn't do that. They did say however i could change my number but that would cost £10!!! So i got them to make a note on my account that i had received a nuisance call. DOH! I'd like to know which A.H. disturbed my goodnights sleep. PS i think the CS rep must've been using an e200, the call quality was rubbish  (let the flaming begin :))
