Guest adrianfox Posted December 19, 2002 Report Posted December 19, 2002 Now that I've got a 256 meg SD card, I've just got round to putting some music on the SPV. I heard that WMA files were the way to go and that they take up about half the size of mp3, so I converted my collection from MP3 128kbps to WMA at 64 kbps. Whoever reckons they sound the same must have a bit too much ear wax IMO. At 64kbps the stereo field is squashed and the highs sound noticably synthetic. I'll stick with the mp3 format for now.
Guest pibrahim Posted December 19, 2002 Report Posted December 19, 2002 80-96kb/s is generally reckoned to sound the same as 128kb mp3. I can't notice much of a difference, except on Coldplay - In My Place, where the compression seems to distort the cymbals somewhat.
