Guest sparks1061 Posted December 19, 2002 Report Posted December 19, 2002 Hi everyone, have been reading all the various threads about sending MMS messages and thought some of you might find the following interesting. Have had my phone about 1 month now, Have never managed to send an MMS message with it but until this week haven't really put much time into the problem but this week decided it was time to get it sorted, On Monday I spoke to Orange customer services who sent me the Sim update, Still no luck, Message just moved to Draft Folder, Then spoke to technical support who told me that it was pointless sending out a sim update becasue they don't work properly with the SPV  talked me through the set up including adding the user name and password, Still no luck, On Tuesday my phone was swopped out by Orange, nothing to do with this problem, The headphone profile wouldn't change once I took the headset out, so yesterday I spoke to technical support again, I was told that they would send out a sim update, I told them what I had been told the day before and after some checking he agreed this was the case! the chap talked me through the whole set up again, making a change to the "Connects to" setting from Orange MMS to "The Internet" I still couldn't send an MMS, He then suggested the problem might be lack of signal, Which I thought unlikely as I currently use MSN and brouse the internet using GPRS from the same location, He did say I might have a problem becasue I was mid way between two transmitters and that could cause a problem with reception, however I agreed to try from home where I generally have a good signal, By coincidence, 5 mins after I finished my call to orange the signal strength increased by 1 bar and has stayed that way since, Was unable to send from home, However while stuck in traffic in High Wycombe this morning I saw I had the max signal showing on my phone so I tried again, Still a failiure, so just on the off chance I changed the "connects to" setting back to Orange MMS And wonders of wonders I was able to send a message :D However, as a post script, when I arrived at the office this morning my phone was still showing the Max signal, So I thought I'd try again, afterall the messages are free at the moment, Bad move, My phone crashed, and following a soft reset it's back to showing the usual 1 bar of signal, and no I can't send messages! So, Lessons learnt! The sim update from Orange is not the answer to everyones problems, it's worth getting orange to go through the settings manually, Even then don't assume you have got the right settings out of them, Don't bother trying to send an MMS unless yo have a VERY good signal,
Guest sparks1061 Posted December 19, 2002 Report Posted December 19, 2002 Update Since my phone crash I now can't brouse the internet or get on to MSN, currently on hold with Orange waiting for someone to sort it out
