Need help with Dopod 515 Smartphone 2003

I really really need some help with my Dopod 515 from China

Currently this is the rom info

Operator: 1.6.3.21

Manufactuer: 1.6.3.21

Microsoft: 4.20.13237.0

Language: 1.6.3.21

ok, here comes the problem

Since i bought this phone in China not over 1 month ago, i realised that Dopod doesnt have a 1.7 rom update with battery fix and msn fix.

And i would like to use my phone to get on MSN, so i would basically need to update to other manufactuer's rom. The question is would i be able to upgrade it to a Smart or i-mate rom?? And would that update give me english T9 instead of the current chinese T9 input??

And i have read somewhere that if i update it to a different rom, it would lock my phone to the specific network, but i am with Vodafone New Zealand, and would it effect me in anyway?? Since Vodafone NZ does not sell Smartphones, so i can not get help from them.

Please please help me if you guys know what to do.

Have no idea, as yet no other rom's are out for windows 2003 and from what I have read there have made it hard for people to change rom to diffrent op's rom.
