Guest Richie M Posted March 13, 2004 Report Posted March 13, 2004 An update for the SPV E200 will be soon available to this place ! Orange will provide during first about fifteen March an update for the SPV E200. Among the improvements will appear in particular the following elements : > Autonomy of the battery. A work of optimization was carried out in order to improve autonomy (up to 100 hours in day before in decontaminated Bluetooth mode and with a good radio operator signal). In addition, it is from now on possible to buy one second battery on the shop of the site orange.fr. > Bluetooth Bluetooth allows from now on the use as modem since the PDA Microsoft. The dialogues used at the time of the appairage were corrected and it is easier to parameterize a connection Active Sync via Bluetooth.. > Quality of the sound in the loudspeaker and the ear-phones The filtering of its was re-examined so that you can hear and heard more clearly. In addition, other elements were added or corrected : > the reader Packet Vidéo pre-is installed so that you can benefit from the new video heading of the gate Orange World. > the applications Config. e-mail and Import of contacts pre-are also installed. It is easier to configure your account e-mail (Orange, Wanadoo, another supplier of access Internet) or to import your contacts since another infra-red telephone. > connections were corrected so that MSN Messenger functions without having to modify them. > and some other improvements... :) excuse the translation. We have been advised that this is NOT suitable for Orange UK users, therefore we recommend UK users to wait for the UK update (which Paul has tested)! Naturally we will let you know once it has been released  Translated Orange France page
Guest Posted March 13, 2004 Report Posted March 13, 2004 Ok. But does anyone know if I could for instance use any firmware update offered by an operator or this be not advisable ? The issue is the following: I have an unlocked Qtek8080 and I'd like to know if applying an operator-provided firmware would add an operator lock to my phone thus rendering it useless for me afterwards. Does anyone know that ? Regards G
Guest ferret Posted March 13, 2004 Report Posted March 13, 2004 if applying an operator-provided firmware would add an operator lock to my phone thus rendering it useless for me afterwards. Not really helpful but the orange UK 1.6 update didn't remove the sim unlock if the phone was unlocked before hand. I'd wait if I were you.
Guest Pondrew Posted March 13, 2004 Report Posted March 13, 2004 Hurrar! The UK update can't be too far away. :) And they've even managed to improve the buzzing problem! Wasn't expecting that.
Guest Kallisti Posted March 13, 2004 Report Posted March 13, 2004 Disclosure: 1.5 updates were released for the original SPV in other countries, but never made it to the UK. So if you're on the fence on buying an E200, don't take this as a sign that it will be improved upon soon or at all. This is by no means a message that I think it won't happen, just one that points out we're treated like dirt, given updates after long delays, if at all, and no trust should be extended to Orange or HTC on this matter.
Guest Pulse Posted March 13, 2004 Report Posted March 13, 2004 I hope it does come out here!! Posted from my SmartPhone!

Guest nedge2k Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 Other than the obvious, is there a specific reason given as to why we shoudn't use it? Or is the UK update that close
