AT&T release update for MPx200 - they now deny it

We reported a few weeks ago that AT&T were planning to release an Update for the MPx200 SEE HERE.

The update has now been released, and it seems to tackle many of the annoying problems with the MPx200.

ROM Info (From Settings, about):

Operator 1.1.20.81

Manufacturere: 1.1.20.81

Language: 1.1.20.81

The OS stuff is the same old ones!

Verified problems that are solved:

1- No more dropped calls when using an old/generic head set

2- YES, it now does work with ALL voice activated/dial tone answering systems.  I have verified with American Airline and my work voice mail (They did not use to work), although the call status still says "Calling....", but the DTMF tones are now sent regardless of the call status.

Not sure if it is me, or it is REALLY fixed:

1- The "Dial" on the side for voice tag activation seems to be a LOT easier to work with now and not as sensetive, I tried pusing it "normally" a few times (20+ times) and almost ALL of them activated the "Voice Tag" and not the annoying "Earpiece Vol.". But there was no mention of this particular fix in the software upgrade announcement; so your milage may vary !!!

----------------

I have over 400+ contacts and now the contact name shows up while the FIRST RING is not finished yet. I made sure the contact name(s) I got calls from for testing are NOT in my SIM card, but just in the phone's contact list and CALLER ID is working.

RB.

However it seems AT&T have not made this update available for download, and at present the only way to get the update is to contact AT&T for a replacement phone.

I contacted AT&T and asked for an official responce: see here

Hopefully if you guys out there on AT&T contact them they will tell you where the update can be downloaded from, as it seems very unlikely that you all have to have your phones replaced.

why release an update when AT&T will be phasing out the phone and the network?

EDIT SQUALL: please dont post links to other forums.

Is that all the update is going to fix!? There are tons of problems on the MPX and I think I read on the previous post ont he portal there were going to be numerous fixes. Also I can't wait for a replacement phone unless I get one from the store right away.

Well, I was on the phone with ATTWS for about half an hour last night, and when I asked about trading my phone in to get the new updated one, all they told me was that they were offering exhisting MPX200 users an opportunity to trade in for a Sony/Ericson phone. I'm confused here. :)

i read a post somewhere about a guy trying to get his phone traded in for an updated one.

Basically the guy said he had to phone several times asking the person he spoke to if they were aware of the update, and if they could process the trade in.

AT&T really dont seem to be handling this very well :)
