Guest mike-oh Posted March 13, 2004 Report Posted March 13, 2004 I jut powered it off and it wont come back on again! ! I've not even had it freeze on me before now! Now it gets to the 'smartphone 2002' screen and is about to go to my homescreen then it just does nothing! The screen doesn't even go off when the flip is shut!! I might do a hard reset but i have orange care and think this may be good a chance to get a replacement phone cos i don't think my battery is 100% ok, the headphone flap is missing and there's a few scratches. Are O still replacing mpx200s with mpx200s? (goes off to find hard reseting thread)
Guest kelv23 Posted March 13, 2004 Report Posted March 13, 2004 I think it depends which shop you got the MPX from originally.theres been a few threads lately about the MPX disappearing off certain shop shelves and people being told that theyll have too choose something else instead. Hard resets only two buttons on the mpx, pretty easy really.
Guest mike-oh Posted March 13, 2004 Report Posted March 13, 2004 well, there went the hard reset. It's working now. I have absolutely no idea as to how i could've upset it. It was working fine only minutes ago :)
Guest smokedog Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 I had my freeze on me a few time and had to hard reset. Meaning I lose everything, a total pain. My become abit of a timebomb, you would never know when it would happen again . Posted from my P900!
Guest Brody Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 Ahhh, Hard Reset, the answer to all our Smartphone woes! Ps. this is my 2000th post! :):D
Guest Bonzo Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 I don't want to be the briber of bad tidings but this is VERY similar to why my MPx ended up having to be exchanged for and SPV E200!!! Never had a problem with it and then overnight it developed this nice little problem in that each time I turned it off and back on it would just hang... sometimes on the Hello Moto screen, sometimes on the other splash screens... but one thing was for sure it did it each and every single time and could only be brought back to life with a hard reset!!!
Guest mike-oh Posted March 16, 2004 Report Posted March 16, 2004 I don't want a silver brick!! Noooooo! I'll have a 220 tho thank you very much :)
Guest smokedog Posted March 16, 2004 Report Posted March 16, 2004 The only solution is a Nokia 6600 or P900 Posted from my P900!
Guest mike-oh Posted March 17, 2004 Report Posted March 17, 2004 The only solution is a Nokia 6600 or P900 Posted from my P900! Please do not swear in this forum :)
Guest equis Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 I love my MPX but this sucker is being sold or traded up as soon as the 220 comes out. I am getting really tired of the quirks this phone is having. I have never ever in my entire life of owning cell phones ever had so many problems. Thank you Microsoft for your monopolized OS, it's just peachy.
Guest mike-oh Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 Ten days on and it's buggered again! Though there's a twist this time. It took 5 mins to switch on and home screen has gone to default image/layout/colours, yet all my contact, texts, shortcuts etc are still there oh and it's recerted itself. What's that all about??? Straight on the phone to OCS this evenin. I'm beginning to think taking out care wasn't such a bad idea afterall!! Are e200s really that bad? They're just so damn big! I like my clamshell.
Guest Pigo Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 I agree.... NO SWEARING HERE!!!!! the "N" brand should be banned. anyway. I did own one phone that had more problems then my moto. that was my Ericsson T68. it was horrible and I would have thrown it straight in to a brick wall if I wasn't so dumb as to forget ensuring it  but that thing is replaced and that's probably why I don't mind the MPx's little quirks. so they n ed a Hard reset every now and then... but for that we get a phone PACKED with options and possibilities. you can costumize it from head to toe. and all that in a reasonably small clamshell design. you won't hear me complain a lot. Only thing I complain about is the promise Motorola (here in the Netherlands) gave me before I bought it. they said a SP2k3 upgrade would be made available soon.... and I called them today and suddenly it's there not enough demand for it.... F*** you Motorola!!!
Guest kelv23 Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 Haven't had any problems as yet,it was the same with my SPV until it came to handing it over to my mate then all sorts of things started happening.i think I'll be able to put up with a few bugs if they occur while waiting for the MPX to come out, might be a long wait though.

I like my clamshell. If Orange find out you've been fecking about with the phone, de-certing and adding unsigned apps and registry tweaks etc. they won't touch you with a barge-pole. How much crap have you loaded onto it? I did another HARD RESET and installed the minimum of apps (Mallocs new version of Rick Dangerous which lets MPX owners actually play the game!, Smart Explorer, PHM registry editor, SP Task Manager and Pocket Notepad) plus a couple of plugins (Richie M's Alarm, RemyJ's shortcuts and analogue clock). I've had no problems with the phone since, though Rick Dangrous still eats the battery. What we really need is one phone for daily use and another to play about and try new apps on!
Guest shiwlof Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 This is very weird for me, my MPX200 has been running like a dream, been giving me awesome battery life and not a glitch to mention. I was a very pro-N[insert rest of the dirty word here] user... But alwasy ended up fingding out how amazing their aftersales service was, cause all my phone kept giving crap. Now I have a phone I really enjoy working with and owning. Would this make me a rare find, or are the other fans just locked away playing on their MPX200's?
Guest phonesmarts Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 Welcome to the site :) I'm glad you feel the same about N****. well, you are not a rare find, and yes, i think there are many people just sitting there with their mpx wondering where to get help, or do amazing stuff with their phones. most just don't know about this site at all.

Since i've had to hard reset it initially i've done NOTHING other than decert it, which is quite possibly the easiest thing to do. I've not been on the phone to OCS yet cos it was my mums Bday on tuesday and now i'm full of cold so not really up for an argument right now. :)

Thank you Microsoft for your monopolized OS, it's just peachy. I think it's a little out there to say MS has monopolized the cell phone OS market. I mean do they even have 10% market share? I think you could say that about Symbian, but not SmartPhone 2002…
