Guest robdes Posted March 13, 2004 Report Posted March 13, 2004 I purchased and OEM i-mate samrtphone 2 (not from a carrier, no carrier logo sw etc). I am using my tmobile sim I was having trouble moving and rearranging my start menu items, some one said I need to app unlock or sim unlock it. I thought that this phone would be unlocked, how can i tell if it is? If it isnt how do I unlock it? OR Is there another way that I can move items around in the start menu, i get a cannot move file message even if i uncheck system file & read only. All help is greatly appreciated
Guest kelv23 Posted March 13, 2004 Report Posted March 13, 2004 one way of telling if your phone is application unlocked is to run an unsigned program on it.if its unlocked the program will run,if not a message will appear saying the application is not signed or words to that effect. go to www.monolithix.org and look for a program called "smart explorer" and try installing it on the phone.if it runs your phones unlocked,if it doesnt then its not. to application unlock the phone do a search and look for the OTA application unlock link and follow the instructions.this will allow your phone to run 3rd party programs, freeware and shareware if it works with the i-mate.
Guest robdes Posted March 14, 2004 Report Posted March 14, 2004 THanks All the apps run fine even the one you indicated so i seems tht my phone is unocked Then I am still stumped on how to move some shortcuts on my start menu? ANy Ideas?
Guest chrisc28 Posted March 14, 2004 Report Posted March 14, 2004 Use a file explorer program like Smart Explorer. Go to Properties when selecting the shortcuts under Storage/Windows/Start Menu. Then deselect Archive. Now you should be able to alter the positioning of the icons. I think this is what you meant.
