Installing a cab without activesync

I've got some downloaded cabs on my memory card but I'm away from home so I can't work out a way to install them (no way to make a shortcut without a file explorer installed, and I don't have one installed)

I know it's possible to make a card autorun when it's inserted - does anyone have the magic code for that (I managed to modify the original orange card to install other apps, but I don't have that to hand either) :-/

* edit *

The original orange card should have a folder called 2577 and in this will be an autorun.exe - I just need that exe and a sample of one of the .ini files that lives in that folder along with how the folder structure is set out

To make the simcard autostart you need a file on the storage card.

As for running the cabs you have to get them/ a short cut into the start menu am afraid - no other way.

believe me, it can be done - the original 8mb orange card has a folder with cabs in. When you insert the card up pops a menu to let you pick one of them to install (it's an installer prog on that came on the memory card - it just looks at the folder and builds a menu of its contents, so it can install any cab)

I just need whatever that folder contains (minus the actual cabs, that is), then I should be able to sort it

(is there a zip of the original card contents anywhere?)

Or depending on your GPRS service you can download and auto install SmartExplorer directly to the phone.

Try www.smartphone2000.com

Go to Downloads and then Utilities (certified)

Posted from my SmartPhone!

for this you would need the program on the phone - so surely you'd be as well having smartexplorer on anyway

Aha, found a solution

- made a folder called storage card2577

- copied in the explorer cab

- copied in the autorun exe from here

- inserted the card back into the phone

et voila :)
