Has anyone successfully figured out how to enter pauses in the voicemail?

I and the Verizon store have been unable to enter pauses, codes, etc. into the default voicemail speed dial #1- I want to have one button access to retrieve voice mail without having to enter my code and "11" every time. Other phones can do this - indeed, the Verizon Rep was very knowledgable, but could not program this into my phone.

I did a workaround, just entered a new entry called "Voicemail" and gave it the speed dial #4.

Programs - Settings- call options - Voice Mail Number

Just save your voice mail number in Outlook with ppp (for pause) between the appropriate waits. For instance 505xxxxxxxpppxxxxxxxppxxxx where the x represents the vm service phone number, my phone number and then my password.

The Verizon Rep was so used to the "normal" way of doing things... it never occured to him (or I) that the letter p would do the same thing as the "insert pause" function available when dealing in the "Contacts" sub menus...

I agree with Mark. The lack of knowledge of this phone at Verizon is stunning. I knew more about this phone after an afternoon messing with it than all the folks at the local Verizon store.

As far as 'the normal way of doing things'; nothing could be more 'normal' than adding a 'p' for a pause. That's exactly what happens when you select 'Insert Pause' in Contacts sub-menu. A 'p' gets added to the number!

the verizon techs ARE stunningly ignorant about this phone. I spoke to four and their manager at the Water/Wall location in NYC. They told me that a) not a single location in NYC has the PST, and :D that they hadn't been trained on the PDA phones and therefor I shouldn't expect them to service it.

I was so stunned that I couldn't even argue or get angry.

No luck for me... I ahve tried both *86pp#9696 and *86,,#9696 it doesn't matter.

In fact if I change it to *87 it still dials *86... My Verizon Wireless I600 is holding the setting but its like its hard coded somewhere different.

My display shows *86 even though it is really dialing *86,,,PIN. If you look at call history it shows the true number, including your PIN.

Just a tip about programming a speed dial code to check your voicemail. I have traveled in Verizon service areas inthe U.S. that DO NOT support the quick dial code for voice mail (I don't remember what it was if it's *86, *87, etc. but that doesn't matter). My main point is that there are still some Verizon areas of the U.S. where if you enter the speed dial code to dial your voice mail and you are ROAMING out of your current area, it won't connect you to your voice mail.

To solve this problem, I programmed my voice mail redial number to be my actual cell phone number, and yes I added all the pauses, password code, etc. and it works perfect, even when I'm roaming in those Verizon areas that are kind of "incompatible".
