I have run the SPVUnlock 2 program and obtained the unlock code. But when I remove the battery and reboot with a vodafone simcard in, I am not asked to enter the unlock code it just goes to the home screen. It looks as if the phone recognises the sim as it says Vodafone on the top line but I cannot make or receive calls.

What am I doing wrong??!!!

If you see Vodaphone displayed on the phone then you are attached to their network - the phone IS unlocked.

Have you proved the SIM is working in another phone ?

yes the sim works fine in my T610. The weird thing is I can access the web with the SPV but if I try and phone from or to it the tone goes to number not recognised or cuts off.

Automatic should work but try manual selection and force the Vodafone network.

Maybe restart the phone afterwards.

Have placed on manual, selected voda. reset and still the same thing. would the sd card have anything to do with it? Im not sure it was in when i did the 1.6 upgrade but im not sure. would that effect it at all?

When I go to network selection it briefly says "downloading settings from network" before going to the next screen and showing voda.

When i initially boot the phone it says no service and there is a white circle with a black line thru it in the signal strength area (looks like national speed limit roadsign!!).

cheers for your time.

P.S do you think it might work using ver 1 of the unlock prog. It did not work before but I didhave v1.10 bootlaoder then so it might work now i have v0.99 bootloader. Thoughts?

Are you sure you are on line 1. Click home and then check the number next to the battery meter.

yeah that number is 1 do you think i should try 2?

Everything you said seems fine. It's almost like the SIM has been barred for voice calls as you cannot send or recieve calls. It could be a network fault.

Have you tried the Vodafone SIM again in another phone just to make sure ?

when i put the sim into a sony ericsson t610 it works fine. its really confusing me now. Do you think the sd card thing is important?

Guest martin

Hmmm The SD card shouldn't affect it.

Do you have any other SIM that you can try in the phone ?

An idea :)

Use your Vodaphone SIM, try and dial up to their WAP service (using CSD dialup)

with the mrs' sim card in, the phone boots up, gets to home screen and displays 'network denied, searching' in the service provider line. She assures me that she gets both signal and service in her office (where I tried it) - could this be a clue? Am about to try voda wap, update soon!!

well i managed to access an extremely crap looking voadfone wap which consisted of a column of words down the left side of the screen followed by a £ sign. I got a weather info text sent to the SPV from this, I think that shows it works?

The Orange SIM will fail because you manually forced the SPV to Vodaphone :)

yeah I figured that out!! I changed it back to auto selection and it still did not work! Very strange.

As kjk said earlier you could try a hard reset and failing that a ROM update. Thats in the hope that the radio software has glitched.

one thing. When i enter bootload screen, press and hold action button the only writing i see is erase ipsm at number 8, all the other numbers on all 3 screens i can see are blank. im sure that before i ran the update there were options like 'red screen on' for example. is this important? It's OK thats normal. There are no other menus in the later bootloader versions (on the SPV anyway)

Just click Erase IPSM and then hold down the power button until phone boots up.

Note: The phone can take several minutes to boot up first time, after a hard reset.

Hard reset did not work.

ok ran a 1.5 update as was all i could find (do you know where i can get 1.6 from easily?!), now with voda sim in the network provider line says 'radio off'. what does this mean? Is the phone now dead?
