Guest Richie M Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 Just noticed that Orange France have released their ROM update for the E200! An update for the SPV E200 is available! Among the improvements appear in particular the following elements: > Autonomy of the battery. A work of optimization was carried out in order to improve autonomy (up to 90 hours in day before in decontaminated Bluetooth mode and with a good radio operator signal). And if you wish in more one second battery for your SPV, will know that it is from now on on sale on orange.fr. > Bluetooth Bluetooth allows from now on the use as modem since the PDA Microsoft. The dialogues used at the time of the appairage were corrected and it is easier to parameterize a connection Active Sync via Bluetooth. > Quality of the sound in the loudspeaker and the ear-phones The filtering of its was re-examined so that you can hear and heard more clearly. In addition, other elements were added or corrected: > the reader Packet Vidéo pre-is installed so that you can benefit from the new video heading of the gate Orange World. > the applications Config. e-mail and Import of contacts pre-are also installed. It is easier to configure your account e-mail (Orange, Wanadoo, another supplier of access Internet) or to import your contacts since another infra-red telephone. > connections were corrected so that MSN Messenger functions without having to modify them. Preparation of the update To be able to use the tool of update, it is necessary for you to have a PC functioning under Windows XP, Windows 2000 or Windows carrying out some Me this tool, the telephone will be updated via Active Sync. It is thus also necessary to have installed this software (provided on the CD-Rom or downloadable since the site of Microsoft ). Significant In addition, it is essential to synchronize your data (contacts, RDV, tasks, e-mail), either via ActiveSync, or via the Sauvegarde application in the file Démarrer/Orange, because all that is on the telephone will be unobtrusive (not what is on chart SD however). The other files (photographs, vidéos, ringings, bottom of screen...) can also be copied manually from your PC by using Active Sync: > to click on Exploring then on "My Smartphone". > the ringings are stored in the file StorageApplication DataSounds > the funds of screen and topics are stored in the file StorageApplication DataHome > the photographs, vidéos and the majority of the documents are stored in the file StorageMy Documents Update Download the tool of update (16Mo) and safeguard it on your PC (on the desk for example). Once downloaded, synchronize your SPV E200 on base USB then click on the file "RUU_v2.53_OrangeFR_v2.6.2.4_Ship.exe" and follow the instructions. Once the finished update, your telephone will start again all alone. To withdraw base USB and to let initialization finish (approximately 2 minutes). You are then invited to start again the SPV. The telephone more quickly starts this time in the new version (you can check it in Démarrer/Paramètres/A matter of, where the version operator indicates 2.6.2.4). Translated Orange Page Original Page Use to download MoDaCo Warning We have been told that this update removes all personal details from the device, ie Contacts, Messages etc. If you are not on the Orange France network it is advisable that you DO NOT use this update, using a foreign update is getting increasingly dangerous, each new one they release is harder than the previous to remove. If you apply this ROM you will not be able to down/up grade to a UK ROM.
Guest Baddass Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 COOL! hopefully the english rom will be along soon too :) i see it mentions the speaker improvement too which is good.......
Guest Mr Orange Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 I'm just waiting for confirmation of when the Uk update will be posted.
Guest mikey2003 Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 Hi Mr O, When are you expecting confirmation of the live date? I'm asking this rather than 'when is the actual date of update going live?' - as I know you are unable to answer this. And how long will it take before new e200s are shipped with update already installed? I'm itching to upgrade... Thanks
Guest Mr Orange Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 Hi Mr O, When are you expecting confirmation of the live date? I'm asking this rather than 'when is the actual date of update going live?' - as I know you are unable to answer this. And how long will it take before new e200s are shipped with update already installed? I'm itching to upgrade... Thanks Later today, new devices from HTC should have the latest build however it does take a little while for them to get into the retail channel and it also depends on how many the retail channel currently have in stock before they order more.
Guest mikey2003 Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 Thanks Mr O. I don't need to ask you to let (all of) us know as soon you know! Does this mean we might hear some good news from you by end of play today? And does it mean I can upgrade at the end of the month  ? Sorry, that wasn't fair, you don't need to answer that. Cheers
Guest dmeineck Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 Oh those update points are wicked - improved sound and battery life and better bluetooth. Presumably the bluetooth can be left on without having as much of an impact on battery life as at present? Also does anyone know if the sd card battery issue is fixed? Many Thanks, Dan
Guest ferret Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 Wooooooooo yaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!! :) Can't be long now for the UK update.
Guest colingwalker Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 From reading the majority of posts in different topics about the ROM update does this mean Orange only 10.5 hours left to release a UK ROM UPGRADE !!! Just getting impatient !!!!!!!!
Guest squall Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 where did the 10.5 hours come from? it will be here soon enough :!:
Guest colingwalker Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 Wasn't the 15 March mentioned as a release date !!!
Guest squall Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 not that i am aware. but we can live in hope :)
Guest Richie M Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 Wasn't the 15 March mentioned as a release date !!! No that was the French update! We havent been given a date for the UK update as yet!
Guest Coucou Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 e flammis atque ruinis salus = in flames and yet saved from ruin? you a fireman? I'd best not tell the wife, she's got a thing for firemen  :) Note: This post was not in anyway intended to be related to the topic under discussion, and any attempt to make it relevant shall be resisted with maximum force.
Guest Crispy Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 A little question on behalf of my favorite minority in here: Anyone know the release date of the Danish update??? :)
Guest markdotpeters5 Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 This is indeed good news, let's hope the UK version shows itself soon. What with that and the smart explorer update, a good day for e200 owners!
Guest shadamehr Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 Mmm - shame. It's now 6.39pm UK time, and I was hoping an EXCELLENT surprise announcement would be out before close of play today about the UK ROM. Alas no such luck. Come on Orange... The French one is out - give us ours. And also, it seems my new XDA2 won't arrive now until Wednesday morning (I beleive it when I see it with the UK shortage). So all in all, in fact a POOR day for news for me... Sob :-(
Guest markdotpeters5 Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 Yeah, i'm pretty gutted. If it isn't today, knowing Orange and their terrible customer service it'll take another couple of weeks at least. I wish someone somewhere would start a decent mobile provider, like O used to be..
Guest Simon Desser Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 My pessimistic side thinks that Orange UK will probably wait a few days, to see what things O/MS/HTC have manged to cock up with the French update. Then they'll decide not to launch the UK update yet, till they manage to put right these cock ups  Sorry to be so negative, but my faith in Orange updates was lost a long time ago  Let's HOPE I'm wrong :)
Guest www.msmobiles.com Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 I'm just waiting for confirmation of when the Uk update will be posted. Why French is posted before English?
Guest cjmillsnun Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 Why French is posted before English? Because Orange is owned by France Telecom!
Guest zzp9cj Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 I know the new update is meant to improve battery life but does it actually solve the SD Card battery drain problem ?? :?:
Guest idoru Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 Well I upgraded this morning (French update) and my phone was fully charged. Usually at the end of the day (about this time) my phone is on 15-20% battery. Now it's at 80% after the update and I made/received calls. So that is good news. I don't have my Card in phone. I'll try that tomorrow and see what the results are - see if it is the same as today
Guest matlowth Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 Out of interest, does anyone know what happens with non-orange phones (ie. o2 xphone, and imate Smartphone2)? We'd love an update aswell! :) Cheers, matt
