Guest drblow Posted March 16, 2004 Report Posted March 16, 2004 I have an avi movie which is 793 MB, and I need to burn it onto a CD. Any ideas how I can compress it? I've tried winrar / winzip, but they only reduced the size by 2MB.
Guest ferret Posted March 16, 2004 Report Posted March 16, 2004 No suggestions, but I hate it when my divx calculations are slightly out!
Guest zeta101 Posted March 16, 2004 Report Posted March 16, 2004 since avi is already compressed a lot them using winrar and winzip wouldnt make much difference as youve found out...you can either re-encode the movie into a slightly lower quality video (so its size goes down and it just fits on a cd) or split the video over 2 cds.
Guest ferret Posted March 16, 2004 Report Posted March 16, 2004 what I do is to run it through virtual dub and chop off the 20th century fox welcome stuff at the start and lose the end credits, it'll help shave a few Mbs off. Assuming you're backing up a DVD you own.
Guest Palindrome Posted March 16, 2004 Report Posted March 16, 2004 The other option is to compress the audio more, or use variable bitrate.
