Any Key Answer = off, but joystick still answers calls?

Can anyone help?

One problem I have is that my phone still seems to answer incoming calls by just touching the joystick. The setting in: settings/phone/call options/any key answer is unchecked.

The catch being that if the phone is in the pouch on my belt, then I only have to so much as move an inch and the joystick being the prominent part on the phone, it answers! Where as I would have expected the joystick to have been disabled and the phone only answer when the "green" answer key is pressed.

Ideas or is this a "feature"? Thanks - Tony

What ferret means is that this is a known problem, what is happening

with the action button is correct.

Hi Ashley / Ferret

Damn, I thought this maybe a feature, pretty annoying. I trawled through the manual and couldnt find anything and searched through here. Oh well. Just have to make sure that I stop what Im doing and check that the phone hasnt answered already.

Got caught out Monday when I blagged a day from work, the phone went off and it had already answered - the beep beep of food going through a Sainsburys checkout pretty much gave the game away! Thank God it wasnt my boss :)

Does anyone have any news on this?

I was put in potentially embarrassing situation: In a meeting re an RFP that my firm is putting out, with out my knowledge the phone rang - auto answered and as far as I know the metting was overheard FROM ANOTHER BIDDER in its entirety!!!!

I'm not happy. Im going to call the Orange account manager I know, but does Mr Orange have any view or Paul? Paul - does the latest software update cure this problem?

Otherwise I don't feel that I have any other solution that to demand another handset from Orange - NOT an E200 unless the situation has been resolved!

If this gets out, I may stand to loose my job!!

Official Orange reply from their handset development centre:

The feature is a design of the new E200 handset. The thought process was to follow the same option as on the T610. The T610 will also answer when the joystick is pressed.

Look at the T610 and you'll notice that the joystick is recessed. The E200 is pronoucnced.

Therefore anyone that has the phone in a beltholder or tight pocket will find that the phone will answer itself!

Fabulous idea guys!!

Does anyone think we can do anything in the registry to fix this? I really need a fix for this bad. I also was caught in a pretty embarrasing situation due to the phone auto answering by the joystick being hit while it was in the horizontal pouch. I've also had it answer several other times when I really didn't want to answer it... This one sucks... Anyone have ANY ideas???

I agree. I'll drop the Orange guys an email. I have a direct feed into the development team as my firm has a huge contract with Orange and I'm the one that decides that if theres a security "issue" Then they should look. I can even cancel the contract on them!

I think this sucks. Let me see what they have to say. Tony
