Fault - LCD goes all black

Apologies if this has come up already - I tried a few searches.

I've got a fault which strikes every couple of days. The LCD goes all black, but otherwise the phone works perfectly; I can make and receive calls, the backlight goes on and off and the external LCD works. The phone stays in this state through a soft reset. Taking the battery out for a few minutes fixes it sometimes, but often it's just a matter of putting it back on its cradle and coming back to it half an hour later. It doesn't seem to be related to a low battery. I'd be tempted to think it was a software problem, but a hard reset didn't solve the problem I thought it might be sticking in a screensaver mode, but putting all the screen timeout settings to "never" hasn't helped.

It's been back to Moto once and had its rear housing replaced (whatever that is), but no help and I don't see any point in sending it away again without some sort of diagnosis . Anybody here got any ideas?

It sounds like a lose connection but that should be unlikely as the

connection terminals are clamped.
