Guest prjd Posted March 18, 2004 Report Posted March 18, 2004 I was trying to edit an XML homescreen to add the alarm plugin to an existing skin. I copied this across to my phone to see how it looked, and when i went to the Home section of Settings to select the new skin, it was missing. When i reopened Active Sync/Explore to try again, nothing comes up in the Explore window! I tried deleting the partnership ans set up a new one; the device synchronises fine, but still nothing is there when you click on Explore. Have I really messed something up? Has this happened to anyone else?! Help!
Guest scott2eyes Posted March 18, 2004 Report Posted March 18, 2004 Did you disconnect and reconnect your phone before the problem started? There's a problem with Activesync where it doesn't seem to register in Explorer sometimes if you disconnect and reconnect the phone with Explorer open- it will still synchronise with Outlook (I gather- I don't use it personally), and you can directly copy media files to and from the phone in Windows Media. Rebooting the PC sorts the problem out.
Guest prjd Posted March 18, 2004 Report Posted March 18, 2004 Thanks scott2eyes, that seems to have solved it. :) I'd like to say that I will learn from this and stop trying to do things that are beyond my meagre talents, but that isn't going happen. Thanks again for the promt reply and assistance.
Guest scott2eyes Posted March 18, 2004 Report Posted March 18, 2004 No problem :) By the way, if your homescreen still isn't appearing in the list in Settings but it has copied OK, it might be a problem with the XML code; if you try to open the XML file on your computer in Internet Explorer and there's a problem with the code, it will tell you exactly where it is- usually a bit of missing punctuation like a closing bracket.(ie. the kind of thing that you can spend ages searching for and never find...)
