Hannover, Germany, CeBIT – March 18, 2004—Sierra Wireless (NASDAQ: SWIR - TSX: SW) announced today that it has signed an agreement with THBBury to provide industry leading car accessories for the new Voq Professional Phone™ through THBBury distribution channels in Europe and North America. The Voq Professional Phone™, a pocketable Microsoft Windows Mobile™ based SmartPhone developed by Sierra Wireless, is planned for commercial availability in the second quarter of 2004.

Designed for business professionals, the Voq Professional Phone™ is a new class of mobile phone that offers the best features of a mobile phone, a personal messaging device, and a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) – in one. The product offers a flip-open QWERTY thumbpad and easy-to-use software solutions including VoqMail, a secure, Always-thereä e-mail solution. The Voq phone will also offer unique search, send, and store capabilities delivered by the myVoqä software application for easy and predictive search, storage, and sending of data.

The Voq Professional Phone™ custom cradle, jointly developed by Sierra Wireless and THBBury, is compatible with the UNI System 8 car kit and possesses European regulatory approvals required by the more than 40 countries worldwide that have outlawed the use of hand-held mobile phones while driving. The handset is voice controlled, allowing the driver to make a call safely while the sound is heard through the external speaker or routed through the car-stereo speaker system (optional feature). In addition, the cradle’s connection to the external antenna will improve transmission and performance of the Voq Professional Phone™ when in transit. The cradle has a built in charger as well, maintaining a fully charged battery at all times.

Current users of a UNI System 8 car kit will be able to upgrade their system by purchasing a new Voq cradle, and continue to use their existing car kit. Voq customers not currently using UNI System 8 can purchase THBBury’s UNI System 8 base car kit that includes a junction box, a docking station for the cradle, a remote speaker, and microphone for hands-free use.

“When we asked our customers what they were looking for in a mobile solution, they said they wanted a product that would enable them to continue working safely and effectively while on the road,” said Andrew Harries, Senior Vice President of Marketing, for Sierra Wireless. “By combining THBBury’s products with the new Voq Professional Phone™ we ensure a best-in-class product offering for customers who need to communicate regularly while in transit.”

and is that button under the joystick the actin button?

No, it's not an action button under the joystick... The following excerpt from www.MSMobilenews.com explains what this is...

- There is a myVoq button on the phone and when you press it there are shortcuts for the following (these shortcuts automatically appear when the keyboard is opened too)... You can send an SMS, quickly find info/apps on the phone where you can start to enter letters and it searches for the info/apps with those letters, access a new type of calculator program (myVoq calculator) that stores previous calculations and seems to make it easy to calculate tips when necessary, display a history of actions you have previously taken for the easy "recall" of a commonly executed task, a notepad program (appears to sync to the PC), list of your favorite internet sites, and a file browser.
