Guest kedar Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 I am getting a 512 Lexar SD card and was wondering whether geting the high speed 32x is worth the expense. 512mg for $167.44: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...e&s=electronics 512mg 32x for $219.87: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...ronics&n=507846 is the high speed worth an extra 50 bucks? i've searched this forum and have found no answer.
Guest spacemonkey Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 I would say that if all your gonna use it for is your phone then I imagine the high speed won't make any useful difference. I don't know this for a fact, but things like copy files through the phone onto the card, running programs are going to be limited speed wise by the phone more than the sd card speed. If you were using it for movies a lot and using a seperate card reader to copy the movies onto the card then the speed difference may help there, but is that alone worth the extra expense? Disclaimer: This is all just my opinion and expectation rather than tested fact.
Guest mcwarre Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 I agree with SpaceMonkey. However, I transfer lots of files to my SD card (MP3s) on a regular basis. It is quicker to walk down stairs, switch the laptop on, transfer files to laptop over the network then write direct to card (laptop has a card reader) than it is to transfer via activesync. So unless you are transfering large files through a card reader on a regular basis no need for the extra expense. The SanDisk on the amazon page is only $140 as well....
Guest [email protected] Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 I've done a quick test of SanDisks Ultra II SD v. their regular SD and the Ultra II is three times faster in a USB2 card reader. I've read discussions about this here on the forum and someone said that with movies you can notice a difference but not with mp3 or regular usage.
