Guest jamesjwood Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 Just to let everyone know. That New E200 ROM does allow GPRS internet over bluetooth, even on my iPAQ H2210. For the IPAQ you need a blank modem string and *99# as the number to dial. I used a baud rate of 115200 (not sure if that is deciding factor or not). and the SSA profile. Did not work when i tried it first of all with the usual connection string. :)
Guest Leela Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 Ah, I posted a similar thread asking for help on setting this up yesterday and I have been trying all manner of connection strings ( one of which was too long for the extra settings textbox! ). The thing is, whenever I use this method I get arrows above the signal strength rather than a "G" Everything seems to work though :) I just don't want to end up with a massive bill at the end of the month!
Guest paulgibson Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 The --><-- show because it is being used as a modem, if you don't belive it, then delete all of your dial up accounts and then you can prove it to ur self, obviously if there are no dial up accounts then you can't ring a number. Paul
Guest griffog Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 I'm struggling with my 2210/E200 post update. I can connect to the E200 but the GPRS connection fails with 'Unable to establish a connection. Please make sure the device is in range etc etc. Any ideas?

PaulThanks for your reply, I'm just a little confused. The arrows indicate a data call ( according to the manual ), but I have an Orange GPRS pack. Will using the modem for a data call to *99# mean that I'll get charged for time online rather than data use? Obviously when I connect to the web from the phone I see a "G" there instead.
Guest Leela Posted March 20, 2004 Report Posted March 20, 2004 Just an update, I managed to get it to accept a connection string of +CGDCONT=1,"IP","orangeinternet","",0,0 I'm assuming that it uses this to initialise the modem and use the "orangeinternet" access point... Is this effectively mimicking how GPRS would dial? What I'm getting at is if I initiate a GPRS connection from my phone normally, would it effectively be using that init string behind the scenes and using the inbuilt modem in the same way? I'm hoping that might explain why I get a "data connection" indicator on my display instead of a gprs indicator. Can someone tell me if I'm on the right track please ? :)
Guest JampoTT Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 Is there anyway, using your 2210 (or my 4150) that we can now get it to dial using the E200 / GPRS / Bluetooth when you open an app that needs internet access? What I'd like to be able to do is simply go to "Inbox" and fire up my mail, and have it dial automatically....
Guest Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 Just to Clarify. If your E200 has the update installed, there is no need to do any manual dialing in order to use gprs over bluetooth. no additional lengthy strings are required. I have my e200 and hp h2210 connecting perfectly, as soon as i open internet explorer of email. All you have to do is pair the two devices, create a connection to the internet via the e200 using the connection wizard on the ipaq. use *99# as the number you dial in the connection settings. * Make sure you turn on the bluetooth serial ports on the e200 in the configurations folder.

Guest wilko81 Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 Serial ports don't need to be turned on, mine works fine without them, connecting to the E200 using the SSA profile.
Guest manocheese Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 I've got my E200 and HP2210 connecting fine using the same settings everyone above used. Now I have to ring Orange to get them to fix my GPRS because although it connects I can't actually view pages.
