Best place to get E200 on Orange?

Now the update is out :)

GF is porting onto Orange (I'm already on it) and I wondered where is the best place (UK) to pick up an E200 these days...

Probably looking at one of the Orange Square Deals (200 xnet, 500 texts) for £30, plus the Orange Care anda small GPRS bundle...

If the Square Deal is only available direct from O, or at their store, I'll probably go there, as its pretty unbeatable (I'm paying something like £24 extra per month just for 360 texts!) - but if that deal is available from ANY retailer, then where is a reputable and cheap place to buy from?!

Cant be sure without checking with them so I could be wrong but I think the square deals are only available if you order online. If you don't mind the wait for your phone this is a very good deal from what I remember of the orange web site.

At the moment the SPV E200 is free on the 120min or above price plan (including square deal I think  ) If you buy in store you wont pay for the handset but the monthly tariff would be a minimum of £25 monthly for 120mins x-networks and landlines.

Hi,

Just bought an SPV e-200 from an Orange Shop, the price has gone up to £59.99 on the 120 minutes option BUT they are offering a £50 discount if you trade-in an old phone - well I've got a drawful of those so that was easy. ALSO there is an introduce a friend incentive, so I got my mate on Orange to recommend me, he gets £50 of his next bill and I get £25 off.

So effectively Orange has paid me £15 to sign-up to a 1 year contract.

I have the £75 voucher (£50 for me, £25 for them) - which is why my preference is to sign up "in store"......

I wonder if my old, scratched SPV is wrth trading in for the additional £50! :) (its what she is using at the moment, although unlocked and using with Vodafone, without any GPRS or MMS access!)

But - the 500 free texts per month is worth about £600 over the course of the year (she will send nearly that many) which is easily better value than the £75 voucher used instore - so if the "square deal" tariff is only available online, then I guess its best to buy from there...

Another question - is the "free" Orange Care still available if you buy as a business?

my advice would be the carphonewarehouse...there are thousands of them and from my experience the service is excellent. dropped my old PayG 3310 and they replaced ti even tho i had insurance. i am going to get my e200 replaced tonight as i dropped it and it wont even turn on anymore so i will post an update on how that works out.

the prices are good and if u see it cheaper anywhere else, print out the website and they will happily price match. When i bought mine i got it price matched from £100 to £35 and they threw in a 64mb SD card :)

The fact that they are a real physical shop means that if anything does go wrong its very easy to get it sorted

just got mine for free at orange cardiff

£25 a month (anytime 120)- double texts and mins for 1st 6 months

£50 trade in for an old house brick i had

(hint, buy a phone at a bootsale, as long as it powers up, they don't care, sell your old working good phones on ebay and make even more money!)

£50 for taking my mates number and address in who is on orangem

AND a £15 bluetooth clip on headset! (half price)

i'll change the contract to £15 per month after 6 months, that works out as a cost of £25x6 + £15x6 - £100 = £140 for the year,

and I was spending about a tenner a month on top up vouchers anyway!

plus, I'll ebay my old 6610 for £60 which I got from BT for free and £12.99 a month line rental with free calls,

so it seems my annual phone upgrade cycle only really costs me £60

bargain :-)

A couple of months ago I got an E200 from an Orange shop. Just before that I changed from a 30 min. tariff to a 120 min. tariff so that the phone would be free (instead of £99). The following month I changed back to the 30 min. tariff! As Orange paid me £30 for my old phone and the 120 min. tariff cost me an extra £10, Orange effectively paid me £20 to get a new phone!

As I have the Open Access Pack I can get Internet Access for free (just have to make sure that I use the 'orangewap' access point for my internet access! Used 540 MB last month for free! But, beware, this trick does not work with the Open World Access Pack!!! You can even use the E200 as a modem for a desktop/laptop PC and get free Internet access!

As Orange contract phones allow free access to freephone numbers I use an indirect service provider to route my calls. These cost just 2p/min+VAT to UK landlines with First Telecom. Any calls to mobiles are made out of my 30mins/month given to me by Orange.

I do not send SMS but do use E-Mail which is free with the Open Access Pack (providing you use the orangewap access point). If you use Orange as your E-Mail provider, you can use their website to send a certain number of free SMS messages per month. It is also possible to send free SMS messages via other websites or use E-Mail to send free SMS. So if you can use the Open Access Pack to get on the internet or use E-Mail for free you can SMS totally free as well!

The only money I ever pay to Orange is £15 line rental + £4/month unlimited WAP usage (which also gives me the unlimited internet access). So, in a year, I pay Orange somewhat less than the cost of a sim-free version (or the Pay As You Go version) of the SPV and get unlimited Internet access, unlimited E-Mail usage and unlimited SMS to boot!

I even use my Orange (Virgin EQ tariff) phone to access the voice mail on my E200 as the voice mail on the Orange (Virgin EQ tariff) is free! If you don't have another Orange mobile with free voicemail it may be possible to get software for the E200 to turn it into an answerphone!

And I never pay for directory enquiries either as the WAP and Internet both have free directory enquiry services! And the internet has free international directory enquiry services!

That BBC TV programme called 'Brassed off Britain' looked into the Mobile phone market and said that the mobile companies should make their plans simpler. I say no! If they did not have complicated plans I could not take advantage of them!

If anyone has any other money-saving tips I would be interested!
