just tried the official update from orange and its wiped my phone and stopped, the word from orange is try again but the pc now does not recognize the phone so will not update .... Be careful..... :)

Seems like theres a lot of people out there who are having problems,Orange really need to know whats going off.

try entering the boot loader then running the update

Enter the bootloader by holding the voice record and power button when you switch the phone on.

so enter boot loader, put in cradle - run update

That happened to me as well. The update wiped Storage and then the phone froze on a white screen. I ran the update again after entering the bootloader, as Squall suggests, and it installed without a problem.

thanks for the help ,,,my phone goes into boot loader but when i try the update again it will not recognize the phone..just get error messages to try the phone in the cradle.

Put the cd provided with the phone in. It's got a driver! then put the phone on the cradle in bootloader mode, and point out the driver from your cdrom

make sure u dont have outlook open when u try to run the update. fist time i tried it crashed the update early on, thankfully i just ran the rom update again and it installed fine :) went thru no problems, then activesync auto detected the device as a new one and installed it no problems
