Hello people.

Im a new user on modaco.

wondering if anyone could help??

I got an e200.

Handset has been de-certed.

Installed the newest version of pocketMVP from Monolithix site.

Prob is i try to play an avi but phone go's back to homescreen & sometimes freezes.

Read previous notes on using Virtual dub and the letterbox template.

Anyone got a clue to where i can get the user manual to using Virtual dub :?:

And as dumb as it sounds how do i decode the avi files to work on my smartphone and what is the best fps, ratio & decoder to use :?:

CHEERS :!: :!: :!:

Welcome to the site :)

encoding media files is not one of my areas of knowledge but have a look in the FAQ section as there is a guide on how to do it there.

I would'nt .avi files , there big and not compressed. You will need to encode the avi's to mpeg's. For that I use Media encoder 9. You can encode the size of the finished film to suit your player/phone.I think there is also Divx that can play on the phone. But , I have'nt used that myself.I play my movies using Windows Media player on my SPV

Not quite. Uncompressed Full Frame AVI's are indeed huge. However, AVI is just an extension and can be encoded in many different ways (This is why modern program read headers (Bit of text at the start of a file) rather than the extension, else nothing would work). DivX, as you mention, is one the better compressors and my guide deals with vreating such files

As I said, you don't if they are already encoded in DivX 5.0.3 or BELOW. You might also want to resize them. As for playing MPEG's, you can also do that, but might I recommend the rather exemplary PocketTV rather than Windows Media Player. That is unless, of course, you're using WMA's...

How would I get the .avis off my E200 to play on my PC? They don't seem to work.
