Guest AaronSoup Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 As much as people like to biatch about it, theres been a great deal of improvement. However, Battery Life is as erratic as ever. Heres what i've found. I noticed the SD card seemed to switch itself off after 5 or so minutes of inactivaty.... This was using the 8mb Orange Card. I then put in my 16mb MpX Card... Same thing again. (My way to test this is to ring SPV at intervals of 1 minute, then start again 2 minute start again etc... using SD Card Ringtones Of course) I then used a 64MB (Panasonic??) Card from my Mini DVC (not sure if it's a Panasonic SD card it's just the make of the DVC)... This took 20 minutes to timeout. Then using a 256MB it took over an hour (80 minute) to timeout. I think this answer clearly the problem of why battery life is so different for different user. this also mean you can't use sd card ringtone cause it will crash phone once card is inactive. 1 issue I bring up is that Sound on this new update sometimes completely drop off. Try switching bluetooth on and off quite a few time, then watch a video or listen to music, and all the speaker does it pops. This is very worrying. do not know if this applys to calls also but i assume so. staying on sound, "the problem with buzzing is gone!" no it is not. apart from being quieter, the speaker no longer equipped for bass on calls. if while in a call you open an EQ program and turn bass up you notice still a buzzing on occasion. this is not an update to sound driver instead it is merely that the phone asks less of the speaker. if you ask me this is unacceptable. phone speakers cost fifteen pence to manufacture, orange and htc must try harder in future if they are to call their phones high tech. how can a phone be high tech if it cannot do a phone call properly. they should sort out at least the basics before making it sing and dance. Bluetooth seems to have not improved too much. Very much trouble syncing with PC and all other devices (I tried at first mobile phones from most manufacturer, then using a Sony Ericsson bluetooth headset it had great trouble maintaining a call). I have discovered using my iMac that the problem appears to be that the bluetooth signal moves in waves. on iMac is displays bluetooth speed and latency. Using t610 i notice it goes at a reasonable speed throughout, only changing when i move the phone away, or hide it under something. With SPV e200 however the speed and latency fluctuate greatly when the phone is stationary. Imagine downloading a file from internet and going at 2kb then 64kb then 2kb. you would cancel isp. very poor. phone is responsive at all times unless you try to access inactive sd in which case small wait is apparent. cleartype is very nice in using internet and text input programs, but i feel menu's are a little too antiailised. maybe it is just a font issue. another problem is video playback. watching a movie you now get microsoft loading icon appear more often. this update seems like fixing crack in a wall by sticking poster over it. yes it looks nice and now it seems much better but the original problem is there still. by inactivating sd card the battery is better but lots more problems arrives. my advice is do not use sd card for files that are required for day to day running of the phone. Guest londonlad Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 if while in a call you open an EQ program and turn bass up couple of questions so is it possible to add bass to your phone calls using this EQ program? does it make the person you are talking to sound more human? oh and where do i get it from? and how much? thanks mate
Guest AaronSoup Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 i assume there would be a way to make a program that adds bass... i was useing a mp3 program to play music, playing the music for a second then stop it and the eq takes over the phone call.. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest londonlad Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 you know what, that was the answer to the buzzing problem from the start. a program that allows us to set the speaker for our own tastes. what mp3 player was it?
