Guest Dr Who Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 My three for my E100 are (currently); 1) Intermittant soft resets. I turn my phone off at night as normal, turn it on in the morning and after a 5 minute bootup it is now app locked again, has lost my skin and all my program registrations. Grrrr. Doesn't take forever to sort out but it annoys the hell out of me. It once happened JUST after I had been to a party where I had met about 20 people I hadn't seen in years, got all their numbers and the soft reset lost them all. Nice. It shouldn't be like this. If they are positioning the Smartphone as a business tool then data integrity is paramount. 2) Turning itself off. I would say as least every two days and often every day my phone turns itself off. At first I thought this was just me forgetting to lock the phone, even though it happened maybe once a year with my other mobiles. But I am now convinved it is either physically getting round the phone lock in which case I wish the off button wasn't quite so prominent (even though I have a Krussell case) OR it is crashing out. I am regularly missing important phone calls and if I am busy I might not notice for 2 or 3 hours. 3) No voice activated dialling. Absolutely essential business tool for some it would just be handy for me. Still, it is a disgrace that given the architecture is there that it can't yet be done on the phone. I don't want to have to sign up to an Orange service to provide what I had 4 years ago on other phones. I like my phone is most other respects and it is obviously the way phones will go in the future but these things are really starting to get under my skin!
Guest morpheus2702 Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 1. General slow clunkiness of system compared to 'regular' phones 2. Clunkiness of keypad lock/unlock 3. Slowness of Windows Media Player 4. System resetting to default ringtones/alerts Yeah, I know that's not 3!!!
Guest Dr Who Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 And right on que, in between my first post and this one my phone has turned itself off. I'll just be checking for missed calls then........
Guest midnight Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 i'd say there "may" be something wrong with your phone :) mine have never switched themselves off for no reason (spv and e100), and a partial hard resets are usually (almost every time) caused by software added to the phone, or (in my case) by changing a reg entry that the phone doesnt like. This causes the phone to rebuild the registry, which happens to contain phone lock information and all your personal settings. Must say i've never had a partial reset for no reason, but if this happens every time you switch off the phone, again, this would be due to a faulty phone (backup battery broke most likely) oh, and for voice activated dialing.... Fonix Voicedial now i aint saying the phone is perfect, and heres my 3 niggles: 1, battery life aint good enough, even if it was a proper 4 days, that still isnt enough (lets hope the mpx100 really is 200hrs) 2 e200 isnt 8 way (9 way if you include action), this should be one of the ms requirements for a smartphone device 3 windows media player needs more controls (fast forward, eq etc.)
Guest glynton Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 Just to let you guys know, i found the MMS capability of the SPV apauling. I have a P900 and just as a comparison here's how much better it is... Example... Take a nice pic with mu Cybershot-U at 1.3 Mega pixels Take the Memory Stick out and put it in my P900 Select photo, then 'Send as MMS' Tells me some phones may not be able to view the size of pic, do i wish to RESIZE it? Click yes 5secs later, it's resized it and plonks the photo in Page one of the MMS. Adding sounds and text is easy Adding contacts is as quick as adding contacts in an SMS (doesn't take forever to load up the contacts list like SPV does) sending is great, have never had a slow or bad connection... every time i wanted to send an MMs be it in a city, in the coutryside, or in Norway it has sent FIRST TIME! Go back to pictures viewer, and if i want to save the Pic to the phone's memory, then i just use the drop down box at the top right of the screen to select the folder that i want to save it to. Easy. SPV was much different and more complicated and the case is the same across a lot of applications within the phone and its operation.
Guest rogerbates Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 1. The way that t9 forgets your words at completely random times. 2. The fact that you can't send contacts by sms and every other phone can! IR is only useful when next to the other phone. everytime i have to send someone a number that i'm not next to i have to write it down then text it. That is annoying! 3. The gprs problem, i know that after writing this i am going to be stuck on the dialling thing again. Never had that problem with my first SPV but this one has it all the time. Thank god for the aeroplane setting. There are plenty of things that i think are great about the SPV though :) Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest Hees Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 There are lots more but I believe that these are the most annoying: 1- Carry your Smartphone in a holster and receive a call... When you have the phone out at last, the damned joystick already took your call and made you feel mighty stupid... 2- All the extra software you have to pay for... My ancient Psion Revo can do lots more, software is better integrated and costs lots less or even for free. Now I'm paying through my nose for what I consider a normal suit of software. 3- The way it oozes Microsoft, it stinks up the room. I know, I know, I've should have known better. But there is a clunkyness about that is typical Microsoft.

Better for who? you? ms? software houses? heheh :) sorry, but us software developers have to make money somewhere you know
Guest ncolli1981 Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 1. Poor Battery Life 2. Poor Battery Life 3. Poor Battery Life
Guest jbrare Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 My 3 on my E200 are 1) No sound attaching or playback in MMS client. 2)Bad sound quality on video recordings (Only after update!!!!!!!!) 3)No native (or working) GPRS/SMS and MMS counter as standard - come on IMeter - PLEASE - code faster and have us a shinny new version that works on the E200. Type that code faster! Fly like the wind!!!! :-) JB
Guest glynton Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 Oh yeah, P900 has great video recording qualities that are recorded in .3gp which is the industry standard for video messaging. And obviously it has an SMS character count, oh and you can copy and paste text from any app to another app becuase it's built into the phone's architecture.
Guest nvkid909 Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 hmmm it's one of the best things i've ever bought, but here goes: 1. soft resets (a bit naughty, like unplugging the pc when it goes funny :? ) 2. the t9 as mentioned before. i've got a 'draught slang message' but still forgets, & i'd like t9 to be on top always, as in some dialogue screens standard is on top... i'd also like a 'press & hold for numbers' when in t9 (getting to numbers is slow) like on some t9 versions 3. the general sell of "email, internet, mediaplayer....." & realising that i'd be shelling out mo, mo, mo to get what i'd expected would be standard - like my hotmail on a windows powered phone, media player you can actually watch, email pics etc... well i'm a throw it at a wall type person but this baby stays.
Guest tony_man Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 I can cut n paste on my E200 I can send emails I can recieve mms with sounds /cant send I can take good piccies I can call ppl I can text I ca run out of battery charge very quickly! oppseeee!
Guest Dr Who Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 Actually I have one more. 4) It doesn't charge every time. I don't use the cradle but the 'serial' port adapter and I appreciate it is probably just a loose connection somewhere between the end of the wire and the power connection on the phone but with battery life at 24 hours, if you are lucky, missing a nights charging can be critical. Even more so when you use the Silverlink rail service and regularly get dumped on freezing cold platforms with no other method of accessing train information. Still don't understand the partial reset thing. It IS only occasional, maybe once every few months and I don't really have anything much running on my phone, just unlocked with ALL-Explorer, SPVMan, SPVInvaders, Smartris and the Futurama skin. Initially I thought it might be something to do with one of these apps but actually happened to a plain vanilla install once. Still love the phone though. I cane the internet daily and love using that feature to check things like opening times, cinema showings and pub addresses on the move and even buying stuff whilst travelling about. Did enjoy previewing my powerpoint presentations also but REALLY wanted to be able to output to a monitor or projector - that would have been flash. Ho-hum. I guess I will live with it until I get offered a reasonable upgrade. Any suggestions? In most other aspects I REALLY
Guest morpheus2702 Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 You most definitely need a fully working, fully charged SPV if using Silverlink!
Guest Coucou Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 1. The Keys! I'm on original SPV, I've had nearly a year to get used to it but they still knacker my thumb if used extensively. 2. The Balance! My wrist gets knackered if using the phone for internet surfing for a long time. 3. The slowness, I wish the memory manager thing worked better. If I want to play a game and forget to close down everything before I go into the game then I have to endure endless spinning circles. It would be better to not multitask. I appreciate that these gripes are largely dealt with in the E100 and the E200 but I haven't got one of those :)
Guest kjk Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 there is many thing i hate with my qtek7070 not just 3 i don't know witch of these i must post so i post just one i really  hate with my qtek7070 that all the thing i missing in my qtek7070 can be founded in a cheeeeeeaaaaaap phone and i hate it
Guest hoopmaster51890 Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 my 3 for the mpx200 are..... 1. slow app download times 2. some buttons frequently just quit working until next soft reset (currently the 1 button) 3. media players all skip a lot on this phone peace
Guest nvkid909 Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 i seem to float between motos & spv's. really i want a decent smartphone that addresses these problems: 1a) the t9 dictionary: it is missing half the english dictionary! 1b) - i would like the predicted words to appear left to right at the bottom of the screen rather than an annoying drop down menu. 1c) - the text input menu: having to select it all the time is a real pain, there should be an option to make t9 default (even for password fields, etc..) 2) keys / dust problems: this is for C550 - certain keys have to be operated with considerable force to make them work, one of which is a number key, so is very infuriating when typing. 3a) viewing pictures: and also attatchments - my phone has a colour screen, so why oh why can't i view images & attatchments in hotmail via IE? the same in the phones messages menu 3b) can't view jpeg's in the phones java? these are major, basic things that most modern 'ordinary' cell phones can do. you can get java apps for mobiles that let you view email & internet, and there's google mobile, so i'm increasingly asking myself what is the point of a smartphone, if it can't do these basic things properly like t9 & the dust problems?
Guest odt Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 SPV C600 : 1: Camera shutter speed - the camera shutter speed is terrible on the c600 (and wasnt much better on the c550) 2: Complete lack of a nine way joystick, i can run and play megadrive/snes and nes games on my phone but its pointless without a decent joystick 3: In general the phone seems to be 'ok' at everything, and doesnt have anything specific that it excels at (eg. the w800 is awesome for music and the k750 rocks for pictures. i simply own a 'standard' phone with a few 'gimmicks') come on microsoft, get it sorted.
Guest w411y Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 (edited) Old topic but never the less... C550Would love a better camera (similar to that of the Prophet or w810i)Lack of WiFiLack of WM5 - annoying with programmes that only work on WM5 and things suchh as homescreens as cab files etc Edited July 29, 2006 by w411y
Guest Hotas Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 QTEK 8310, there are only two - the annoying (new) power management which doesn't allow to keep the display switched on without backlight. So Automatic keylock lost it's best feature: display of notifications without forcing the user to press any key. This works so good on my old WM2003SE SDA :) - the fact that I lose my (very few) T9 custom words every 2-3 days
