Battery Life in comparison

Good morning,

i am reading several posts in that forum, since i own the qtek 8080.

What concerned me much, was the battery issue... i had a Nokia 7650 before, and everybody told me, that this unit has a poor battery life. But i experienced a capacity for about 7-8 days.

Same issue with the Voyager. I got the Voyager on Christmas 2003. Even before, i checked nearly every post concerning battery life of this unit. I was very concerned about the reports of the Orange E200 (24 hours charging rythm).

As i received the Voyager, i did everthing to increase the battery life.

First of all, i discharge the unit completly EVERY time. That means, i try to switch it on as long as it gets. Until no function can be seen anymore. Thats the impression i get:

- the unit turns off automaticly

- afterwards, the unit can be turned on for about 20 - 25 times, but turns of after about 30 seconds

- the second step (about 2-3 hours later) is, that only the keypad enlights (4-5 hours of continous power button pressing :!: )

- now the interesting part : The unit switches ON and shows me one piece of the battery monitor (35%). The unit now works for about 1 hour until it switches off again.

- After this interesting behaviour, only the keypad enlights (4-5) hours.

If all these steps are done, i recharge the unit over night. When i wake up, the charging light is off. I deplug the charger, but replug it right afterwards. The orange light appears and charges the unit for about 30 min.

If that has finished, i turn the unit on.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As suggested in several posts, i deactivate the automatic GPRS connection, i only switch BT on if necessary and the caller ID app has been removed. The dummy is inside the sd slot.

NOW, what everybody wants to know:

The battery lasts for about 3-4 days. I make a few calls, but write more sms (2-3 a day). I use BT once a time (10-20 min.)

The describtion of the Qtek, that it lasts 90 hours is in my opinion correct. The unit lasts this long.

I do not know if that helps you, but i think, that, in comparison to the E200, that the firmware is the ultimate issue for the battery problem. The Orange ROM is the reason for this!!

If you have questions, ask.... 8)

well, i do this everytime....

The phone normally goes off at 4.00pm - then, i start that procedure....

Something is tellin me, that these batteries in the Voyager phones aren`t as "buffer free" as they seem to be.

i experienced, that you can really teach your battery to last longer.
