Guest Dumdidum Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 Hi all This Post is for all out there with an USB-Bluetooth-Dongle and Windows XP! I am using (as many others) the widcomm-software which is not bad, but sometimes I have to connect my SPV E200 2-3 times before it is really connecting to acitvesync! Yesterday I downloaded and installed the Preview-Version of the Windows XP Service Pack 2. It's 260MB big! After installing I read that there is integrated Bluetooth-Support (drivers) for all USB-Bluetooth-Dongles in this SP! So I removed my widcomm-software and the I removed the USB-Dongle and then put it back again into the port... Windows XP is detecting a "Cambridge Silicon Radio Bluetooth Adapter" and it installed the driver! After that it is installed and you can see a new entry in the Hardware-Manager: Ok, all good but what performance does it have? ...... Now I had to install the Bluetooth-Serial-Port for Incoming Messages - that was easy to install... Port COM5... ok I entered COM5 into ActiveSync and then I tried to connect the first time.... AND IT WORKED! Ok, one time could be luck, so I tried again and again, restaring my PC and trying again... IT IS WORKING TILL NOW 100% (!) everytime I tried to connect it connected (about 15 times!) So I want to share this with all out there having some problems with connecting the SPV E200 over bluetooth! bluetooth3.JPGbluetooth.JPG
Guest Rob.P Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 I know what you mean, I asked MS Support for the bluetooth part of the service pack 2 awhile back cause I was having problems, they gave me a link to download it from and I have never had a problem with my Bluetooth since (as Rob dives across the room to grab a piece of wood)
Guest drblow Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 Any chance of a link tot he XP service pack? I can't seem to find it using windows update.
Guest Dumdidum Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 You can download it here: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechn...n/sp2predl.mspx But it's a preview, not the final!
Guest Dumdidum Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 No, its for all Version of Windows XP (inkl. Media Center)
Guest cactusbob Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 Any chance of a link to just the BT part? CB
Guest Pulse Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 No problems connecting my E200 here with standard drivers from the box. Lucky I guess, but good for all those having problems!
Guest Dumdidum Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 Any chance of a link to just the BT part? Thats not possible... because it is an integrated part of Windows XP now...
Guest Pulse Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 It's only 260mb... I'm waiting for the proper release. I have an E200, and have had enough of beta testing.
Guest dude Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 Ok, Im having trouble past the SP2 bit! SP2 installed my BT Dongle (http://blueproton.zoovy.com/category/160/) bought from Ebay with no trouble, gave me my BT Icon in the Systray and Blurtooth Devices in Control Panel. Went to add my SPVE200 to it and viola! paired and bonded straight away. Now im having problems! I dont seem to have "My Bluetooth Places" in My Computer! I installed the software from the site and it gave me BT Places back but wouldnt accept that my dongle was availible to use, as if it wasnt installed. In Device options I cannot change the ports used for incoming/outgoing, they auto install at COM12 and above!!! COM3 is free according to Device Manager and Activesync will only read from COM3 and my IrDA port so why cant I change it to COM3??? Now I had to install the Bluetooth-Serial-Port for Incoming Messages - that was easy to install... Port COM5... ok I entered COM5 into ActiveSync and then I tried to connect the first time.... AND IT WORKED! Where abouts did this come from? Am I missing a piece of software? Ive read about on other forums and the "My BT Places" problem is usually solved by installing the latest WIDCOMM but if XPSP2 autoinstalls its drivers how do you get round that? Really, really, really hope you can help!!! :S
