Guest TANKERx Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 Hi, I've found lots of posts on how to do a hard reset, but I can't find anything on doing a soft reset. All of a sudden, it seems my phone doesn't want to send e-mails to anybody if the first part of their address contains a dot (that is, [email protected] is Ok, but [email protected] is returned as an invalid address - it hasn't always been like this). I just want to make sure the registry and normal settings are Ok. Can anybody help? Thanks Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest scott2eyes Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 A soft reset is just switching the phone off- it won't change any of the registry settings (I think.) A hard reset basically wipes the phone back to the factory state.
Guest TANKERx Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 There is another reset which just does the configuration and is what happens when the registry becomes corrupt. On the SPV, this can be done manually and I was wondering if the same could be done here. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 There have only ever been two resets as such on the SPVE100 etc Hard Reset and the soft reset (reboot) If you corrupt the registry then unless you know the exact location to manualy fix the entries then you have to hard reset. There is also a partial reset but that cannot be recovered manually and is caused by numerous things from dodgy xml to low battery level.
