Guest mcwarre Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 Anyone seen this? That has gotta hurt.........
Guest [email protected] Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 Does enyone know if the verdict requires Microsoft to reduce the price on the version of Windows without Media Player? If not, who's going to buy it?
Guest kelv23 Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 moneywise it wont hurt a bit,its something like a months profit.
Guest mcwarre Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 Allegedly M$ have $5 Billion in cash never mind other assets. That fine is about 8.3% of their cash reserves. Whether the EU can enforce it or not is another matter............
Guest midnight Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 and apple include quicktime with their os, whats the big deal? :)
Guest squall Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 mircosoft will have to sell a version of windows without media for a lower price than the full version - however the difference doesnt have to be - and wont be huge
Guest spacemonkey Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 Besides which, who are they competing with as far as media player is concerned? Real are the main complainers but Real Player is spyware filled shite. Also, the appeals process will likely take on for 5 years so don't expect the exciting non-media player windows any time soon.
Guest squall Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 also i think i would buy the more expensive version with media player - i like it
Guest spacemonkey Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 If you have the non media player version you'll be able to get media player off the web free anyway. The issue is that media player is pre installed, rather than that media player is available free.
