Guest squall Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 with thanks to midnight; SOURCE Atlanta, Georgia, March 23, 2004 – From the tradeshow floor of the largest telecommunications event in the United States, CTIA Wireless 2004, SRS Labs, Inc. (NASDAQ: SRSL), a leading provider of innovative audio, voice and semiconductor technology solutions, today announced the immediate availability its low-level driver solutions for the audio processing component of the company’s WOW XT for Mobile audio enhancement solution suites. The drivers are available for any ARM®-based microprocessor handset or device that runs Microsoft’s Windows Mobile PocketPC® 2003 or Microsoft Smartphone 2003 operating systems and will be showcased by SRS Labs at the 2004 CTIA Wireless Show in Atlanta March 22-24. Demonstrations can be arranged in the company’s booth, # 4875-U in the M-tertainment pavilion, where SRS Labs staff will be on hand to discuss the company’s wide range of solutions for mobile device audio enhancement, voice processing and audio management utilities. The company’s low level drivers, aptly named because they function at the most primary levels in a device’s Windows audio path, allow any entertainment audio such as game sounds, music and audio associated with video playback to be immediately processed with SRS audio enhancement technologies, regardless of the application used by the consumer. Traditionally, device manufacturers needed to call the SRS WOW library from each application if they wanted to enhance the audio. Now, with these drivers, that is no longer necessary. One implementation of this driver now delivers the incredible quality that has helped to make SRS technologies the standard audio enhancement solution and will now enhance any application shipping in the device and any subsequent application downloaded to the device by the consumer without any additional programming from the device manufacturer. Manufacturers can now easily enable all audio played on their products to be enhanced with SRS technologies to deliver a powerful, dynamic and immersive 3D sound. The drivers are currently available for any ARM, TI OMAP and Intel XScale platform and are part of the SRS WOW XT for Mobile solution suite designed specifically to address the challenges of delivering top-quality audio in mobile phones and other devices that use single-speaker designs, two closely-spaced speakers, or headphones. “With these powerful new deliverables, we have considerably increased our flexibility for implementation across many new product lines and markets,” explains Joanna Skrdlant, director of product marketing for SRS Labs. “And as global markets become even more competitive, semiconductor companies, OEMs and handset makers looking for top-quality audio enhancement in a single, easy-to-implement solution will not have to look any further than WOW XT for Mobile.” In a press release yesterday, SRS Labs announced the launch of its newest version of their WOW XT for Mobile technologies for audio enhancement, voice processing, and their new audio management utilities, SRS ALMS (Audio Level Management Suite) that manages the audio level, overcomes the physical limitations of small speaker drivers and headphones, and ensures a premium quality audio experience for consumers. WOW XT for Mobile is currently available on ARM, Intel XScale, and TI OMAP platforms and under development for others, with the key benefit that SRS technologies do not require hardware design changes in order to deliver incredibly fuller, more dynamic audio. In addition, handset makers and wireless service providers who incorporate WOW XT for Mobile into their product lineup can dramatically improve a subscriber’s first impression when trying a mobilemedia application for the first time. SRS Labs has a fast, streamlined system of licensing approval and delivery of technologies for any manufacturer’s desired platform or application.
