Guest steverae Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 We need to help Malloc find a developer to take over his PocketMVP progam and update it to run on Windows mobile 2003 (SPV e200). Anyone know someone who could and would like to help malloc with his excellent work so far.....
Guest Palindrome Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 I for one would definitely like this to happen. I'd be very happy paying for it if it was released commercially. It would also be the only DivX player available for the E200. DivX encoding gives better quality images than the other formats you can play on the SPV (IMO) and the performance is very good on the E200, much better than my original SPV (due to more memory).
Guest confusion_boy Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 Ah... am i the only one who is currently using the latest version of PocketMVP on my SPV E200??? It seems to work fine....
Guest Palindrome Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 There are bugs, like having to restart the phone before you can load up PocketMVP after using it. Ideally, a 2003 version could utilise the new features in the operating system and add more functionality and possibly update to using the newer DivX codecs. Of course, that may be a bit much for someone mucking around with Mallocs sources in their spare time, but a commercial company could really take it to new heights.
Guest FuNKySoULyBrO Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 For those who had problems(greenish blocks) in viewing certain divxs encoded with newer codecs, esp divx 5, u can just overwrite the divx.dll in the pocketmvp folder with the one from the latest ppc version of pocketmvp.
Guest steverae Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 Further to the requests for an update, the following additions would have to be made :- 1) Fixing the bugs so that you can restart after running it once. 2) The ability to pick files from with in subfolders instead of just the root of your memory card. 3) Support for WMA,WMV files would be nice 4) basically everything that pocketTV can do for divx files.... fforward and rewind through big files etc. This could well become one of the most popular programs from the smartphone if it could be corrected. I'd like to say from all of us who have voted so far, to Malloc, "Well done that man !" I must aggree with the comments earlier that YES we would pay for this program and secondly that divx is a far superior format for movies etc, Example, 20 minute MPEG 1 at reasonable quality @ around 20Mb the same Divx at just under 10Mb COME ON PEOPLE, TAKE ON THIS CHALLENGE !
Guest steverae Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 As this appears to be quite a popular topic, can it be made a sticky until womeone can help us out.. ?
Guest crafty Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 @FuNKySoULyBrO, any chance that you could post the newest PPC divx.dll. I've had a search on the net and can only find complete versions of the player. Without a PPC to install them on, i'm not sure how i could just get at the specific library. Do you know if this supports playback of files incoded with Divx 5.1.1? Cheers.

Guest aml Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 Anyone with the problem of not being able to use pocketMVP twice without restarting the phoneon the E200, try pressing the joystick to stop the program running then file, open, resume last This should close PocketMVP. Now try opening a new video file. Think that should work.
Guest steverae Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 Great Aml, that worked great. Now all we need to find out is how to be able to fast forward and rewind through a avi. PS. The browser patch (to be able to select files from anywhere) is also an excellent addition. keep em coming, we might get this software working soon.
