Hi there all

So I am in the USA and I have a T-Mobile sim that is on an unlimited t-zones subscription. Problem is I can't use IM... I have the latest ROM from Orange and I can browse the web?

Any ideas? The only thing that has changed is that T-Mobile have upgraded me from the $2.99pm 1MB package to an unlimited one.

Thanks in advance

T-Zones will only allow you to use certain parts of the internet. While most of the web pages are viewable, secure sites aren`t. Neither is the portal that MSN uses. You would need to get the unlimited internet plan for $20/month for everything to work.

What APN are you using in your GPRS settings? If you use wap.voicestream.com, it blocks many ports.

You have to use internet2.voicestream.com and make sure your contract allows you too (I find TMobile terminology confusing, not sure if tzone pro @ $9.99/month gives you access to internet2. I ahve the $19.99/mon GPRS plan)

let me know if you need more help with settings

T-Zones Pro will not allow you to access internet2, it's still wap.voicestream.com. I can also verify that if you get the $20 a month unlimited internet you will then be able to get MSN messenger to work. You would use internet2. internet3 also allows VPN access if you need it. If you need internet3 and they try to get you to pay more than $20 then just settle for internet2 and call back and talk to another person saying you need them to add VPN access to with no extra charge. If they say it costs extra then hang up and try again.

Also, the title of this thread is misleading and I'm not sure what the poll is for. Are you asking what the best carrier in the US is in general based on peoples opinions or whether or not MSN messenger works for the peoples carrier?

I know this question is a bit off subject but is Cingular & AT&T the same company?? as I am traveling to California in May and have been told my UK Vodafone sim will roam with Cingular...... and dont AT&T use the 850 band now?

Again SORRY  for the some what off subject question but seeing as the thread will be read by our American cousins ...

Hi there Guys

Thanks for the info!

I put the poll on there because I am currently spending a lot of time in the US and I was wandering if I would do better to be on one of the other networks. I put Cingular and AT&T together as Cingular just bought them!

The only other operator over here that I have any experience of is Verizon but they are not GSM and they are V expensive. Saying that though their coverage is amazing!

I was hoping to stick with my SPV but I may have to go to Verizon and get a Samsung i600 but I hate the flip phones.

I think I'll have a chat with T mobile today and see what they have to say.

Thanks again

Antoni
